Kate Chastain from ‘Below Deck’ Shades Teddi Mellencamp from ‘RHOBH’

Like many working mothers, Teddi Mellencamp from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wrestles with trying to balance career and time with her children.

Cameras captured an emotional Mellencamp talking with her husband during a private moment about whether or not she should sell part of her company, All In by Teddi and spend more time with her children. As a business owner, Mellencamp knew selling the company would mean she would be relinquishing control over a business she’s built from the ground up.

And while she may not have come to a conclusion as to exactly how she would achieve this balance, Twitter fans weighed in on her struggle. One person in particular made a few comments about the moment, which essentially called for Mellencamp to respond.

Kate Chastain from ‘Below Deck’ had something to say

Not one to mince words, Kate Chastain from Below Deck is known for throwing a bit of shade on Twitter. She was watching the RHOBH episode and could not help but comment.

She wrote, “Im still not really sure what exactly an ‘accountability coach’ does, but I’m pretty certain it doesn’t require more time away one’s children than any other job the millions of working mothers have.”

Mellencamp recently shared with The Cheat Sheet that a tiny business she started with only about 40 clients exploded to well over a thousand people. She also now employs 40 coaches and said the weight loss project she originally started on Instagram took her by surprise as her business took off quickly.

Fans reacted to Chastain’s comment

Mellencamp is well aware of the backlash from this season of RHOBH. But says she tries to stay away from social media on days when the show doesn’t air and has made peace with some of the negative comments.

On Chastain’s thread, the comments mounted quickly in favor of the Below Deck chief stew’s post. “Yea I didn’t understand the break down over that..try having an office job or one where you are on a plane every week. Versus working out at home…” one person remarked.

Other comments were simply affirmations in support of Chastain’s statement. Chastain added, “Omg so basically now even lie detector tests need accountability training.”

Mellencamp responds

Although Mellencamp has backed off lately from responding to many of the comments on Twitter, she and Kyle Richards had something to say too. “And I’m sure the millions of working moms struggle with mom guilt at some point,” Mellencamp wrote. “Never said my job and time was any more important or different. But if judging my feelings as a mother makes you happy go off I guess.”

Richards and Mellencamp have become close this year. Richards added, “Not sure if you’re a Mom or not but we all deal with Mom guilt at times when working. Not only does Teddi work her ass off helping people and building her business but also being away from the kids when filming is hard sometimes. There are multiple jobs here.”

But Chastain doubled down on her original remarks. “I accept accountability for all of my #RHOBH tweets- past, present and future. Also I’m about to eat a pint of pistachio gelato.”
