This Is Kate Middleton’s Favorite Birthday Dessert
It’s Kate Middleton’s 38th birthday. Amid all of the drama that has happened with the British royal family as of late, the Duchess of Cambridge remains firmly in her role as the future Queen Consort. In fact, despite the fallout between her husband, Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry, as well as Prince Andrew’s scandal and the Sussexes resignation — Middleton is still celebrating herself.
Since entering into the royal family in 2011, the duchess has been seen as a pillar of tradition and grace. Since she dated the future Crowned King for almost a decade before they wed, the duchess was adequately prepared for royal life. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to let loose on her birthday.
Here’s how Middleton celebrates birthdays — including her favorite dessert.
Kate Middleton has birthday traditions
Though we’re not sure if she has any personal birthday traditions for herself, the Duchess of Cambridge does have very special birthday traditions for her three children. Each year on Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis’ birthdays — she bakes them a homemade cake.
“I love making the cake,” Middleton told acclaimed chef Mary Berry on the BBC special A Berry Royal Christmas. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I sort of stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing. I make far too much, but I love it.”
We wonder if the little royals have different favorite cake flavors.
Inside Kate Middleton’s 38th birthday plans
Since Middleton has been such a solid force in the royal family, especially in the past year and in the wake of that rumors of that fake cheating scandal between Prince William and the duchess good friend, Rose Hanbury, the future king wants to make sure his wife is celebrated and feels loved.
An insider told Page Six that the Duke of Cambridge has planned a surprise getaway for Middleton. “Now, William wants to whisk their family away from it all on a no-expenses-spared trip to Mustique as a surprise for Kate. A big surprise!” the source shared. “They’ll stay in a $15 million, seven-bedroom mansion with an infinity pool, private chef, screening room, gym and tennis court.” The trip’s itinerary also has a surfing lesson, spa time, and a diving excursion.
Since the Cambridges could use some time away from their royal duties they will also be bringing their little ones with them. It will be a family affair.
Kate Middleton’s favorite birthday dessert
Middleton might bake her children special birthday cakes, but that’s not her favorite dessert. The duchess’ favorite dessert is a decadent English classic, sticky toffee pudding.
The intricate recipe includes eggs, butter, flour, sugar, chopped dates and Muscovado sugar for the lush sticky topping. “The Queen loved this at Sandringham Palace when it was really cold outside, when she was at Balmoral Castle, and the rest of the royal family did too,” former royal chef Darren McGrady told Delish. “Especially dear Katie Kate, who loves her some sweets in between raw food stages.”
