Kate Middleton Feels ‘Exhausted and Trapped’ Following Megxit Drama, Source Claims

Is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge feeling overwhelmed after Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’s exit earlier this year? According to a new report, a source claims that Kate’s increased workload after Megxit has left her “exhausted and trapped.”

Prince Harry and Meghan wrapped up their royal duties

Prince Harry and Meghan felt they had to exit their royal duties in order to live a more peaceful life out of the spotlight with their son Archie. In January, they announced their intention to step back from their roles and the queen worked with them to determine an end date, March 31.

In the weeks leading up to their official exit date, the Sussexes only had a handful of final royal engagements, leaving Prince William and Kate to pick up the slack in their absence. With the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forcing the Cambridges to pause their in-person engagements, the couple pivoted to meeting with people virtually in order to continue with their royal duties.

A palace source told The Mirror that there was some “genuine worry” after Prince Harry and Markle’s exit. “If the Sussexes are only here half the year then it will fall to William and Kate to pick up the slack with more engagements, more pressure, and that has not even been considered,” the insider shared.

Kate is reportedly ‘exhausted’ as a result

The Cambridges’ work schedule hasn’t slowed much, it seems, plus they have been homeschooling their children, so it’s not surprising to hear that Kate is feeling a bit overwhelmed these days.

A friend of Kate’s shared with Tatler just how much of a toll the “enormous” workload has taken “William and Catherine really wanted to be hands-on parents and the Sussexes have effectively thrown their three children under a bus,” the source said. “There goes their morning school runs as the responsibilities on them now are enormous.”

Kate, by all appearances, continues to “smile and dress appropriately,” another source explained, but “is furious about the larger workload” and “feels exhausted and trapped.”

“She’s working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays,” the insider added.

Kate’s body language shows she’s the boss

Whether or not Kate is truly exhausted, as the source claims, she has been showing her lovely personality during the virtual meetings with Prince William. According to royal commentator Angela Mollard, one of their calls with schoolchildren and teachers showed that Kate “took charge,” something the expert believes Kate carries into her personal life.

“I love how Kate took charge on the call, introducing both of them,” Mollard explained during the Royals podcast. “It gave you an insight into what she must be like at home.”

Mollard added, “I think she’s supremely organized, I think she’s the boss in the relationship. She sort of led the conversation, but in a nice way. She’s the boss in that mother of three children who does 50 million things a day.”

“She has a really strong connection to not just her own children but to other people’s children as well,” Mollard noted. “The way she speaks to children is instinctive and very warm.”
