Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle Share Kiss on the Cheek Following Feud Rumors

Rumors that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are feuding seem to plague the two, but today perhaps they put the feud gossip to rest. The two shared a sweet moment when they greeted one another at the annual Commonwealth Day church service at Westminster Abbey, giving a kiss on the cheek as their husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry, shook hands.

What is Commonwealth Day?

In addition to Markle, Middleton, and Prince William and Prince Harry attending the event, Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla as well as Queen Elizabeth were on hand for the service that honors the 53 nations that make up the Commonwealth.

Markle arrived in a beautiful cream and black patterned Victoria Beckham dress with a matching coat and hat, while Middleton’s vibrant red dress and coordinating Catherine Walker coat and hat turned heads.

All eyes were on Markle and Middleton, who also appeared to be on very good terms while in attendance at the recent 50th anniversary celebration of Prince Charles’ service to Wales at Buckingham Palace, where they were seen laughing together.

The media continues to report on a feud between the two, most recently because Middleton didn’t attend Markle’s NYC baby shower, but everything looked quite friendly between the women as they greeted one another with a hug and a kiss.

An insider had told Us Weekly last year that Middleton and Markle are, indeed, friendly enough, noting: “Are they the best of friends? No. Do they speak every waking second? No. Do they hate each other? Absolutely not.”

How did the feud rumor start?

The feud reportedly kicked off over some well intended brotherly advice, with royal expert Katie Nicholl explaining in TLC’s Kate v. Meghan: Princesses at War? that there was tension between the brothers, explaining: “William was quite concerned that the relationship had moved so quickly. And being close to Harry, probably the only person close enough to say to Harry, ‘This seems to be moving quickly, are you sure?'”

Nicholl added: “I think what was meant as well-intended brotherly advice just riled Harry. Harry is hugely protective of Meghan. He saw that as criticism. He interpreted that as his brother not really being behind this marriage, this union, and I don’t think things have been quite right ever since.”

Further, royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell shared: “Everything I hear is that Harry is completely beguiled by Meghan and completely enthralled to her and has changed considerably. People do change when they get married.”

Middleton and Markle take it in stride

Despite the rumors, the two women take it all in stride, as the tabloids can easily spin any kind of ‘feud’ gossip regularly. In fact, Markle recently commented during an International Women’s Day panel that she avoids social media and newspapers altogether.

She explained: “I don’t read anything, it’s much safer that way, but equally that’s just my own personal preference, because I think positive or negative, it can all sort of just feel like noise to a certain extent these days.”
