Kate Middleton Has An Intense New Royal Role
With Prince Andrew out as a senior member of the British Royal Family and Duchess Meghan Markle and Prince Harry restrategizing their approach to royal life — the remaining members of the royal family have been left to pick up the slack.
Though she’s still fully handling her quick-paced schedule and all of her royal duties — Queen Elizabeth II is slowly handing off certain patronages and charity organizations to other members of the family.
In early December 2019 — Kensington Palace announced that Duchess Kate Middleton would be embarking on a new royal role, one given to her specifically by Queen Elizabeth.
Kate Middleton is taking over a role Queen Elizabeth held for 65 years
Unlike her sister-in-law, Duchess Meghan Markle, Duchess Kate Middleton was able to ease her way into the British Royal Family. As a result, she’s been able to be accepted by the public and press. Middleton is a well-beloved royal with a sunny disposition who is happy to adhere to the many rules of royal life. As a result — the queen has just put a great deal of trust in the duchess.
Middleton has just become patron of Family Action. The organization, which was founded in 1869, focuses on helping families in need. More specifically — they work closely with disadvantaged families dealing with financial hardship, mental health, social isolation, parenting difficulties, domestic abuse, and substance abuse.
Since Middleton has been working closely with children and families since she married into the royal family, this seems like a perfect fit.
Kate Middleton has been open about the challenges of parenthood
Being underprivileged and disadvantaged makes parenting even more challenging then it already is. The Duchess of Cambridge herself has been open about the struggles of motherhood, and she has privilege and help. She has three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis with her husband, Prince William.
“She is fantastic with children and is also really interested in the issues — she’s really interested in families and parenting, and it really shines through everything she does.” CEO of Family Action David Holmes said. “Everyone who’s a parent has their own experience, but equally it’s about understanding that other peoples’ experience is different and that parenting experience changes daily,” he notes. “And it’s that understanding about what it takes to be a parent.”
In addition to stepping in the queen shoes– Middleton has also found time to be a super hands-on mom to her three children. In fact, she skipped out on a royal tour with her husband to the Middle East this December in favor of spending quality time with her kiddos.
Kate Middleton’s royal role will continue to expand
Though it will be many years before Prince William becomes Crowned King — Middleton is already being groomed to stand by his side. Her increasingly busy schedule proves that. In addition to taking on the patron role at Family Action, the duchess was also required to stand with the queen and welcome Donald Trump and other world leaders to NATO in London.
Don’t expect Middleton to slow down for the holidays either. For Christmas — the duchess and Prince William will host a BBC event with British Baking Show alum Mary Berry. The trio will bring holiday cheer to emergency service workers and others who are working over the holidays.
We hope Middleton will be able to manage her schedule as it gets more intense.
