Kate Middleton Just Clapped Back at Rumors She Feels ‘Exhausted and Trapped’ as the Royals Rethink Their Stiff Upper Lip Policy

For Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, things have changed drastically in the past several months. Following Megan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry’s exit from the British royal family, Kate, and Prince William have stepped up in a major way.

The Cambridges already had more work on their plates following Prince Andrew’s scandal in late 2019. Now, amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which has forced Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall into isolation, the future Crowned King and Queen regent have become the faces of the royal family.

Kate and Prince William are currently homeschooling their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at their country home, Anmer Hall. They are also juggling their remote schedule which includes a ton of meetings and zoom calls. Though the pair have admitted things have been hectic, the duchess is now clapping back at some rumors about her work schedule.

Kate Middleton has been praised for her leadership skills

With a focus on early childhood education and development, Kate has certainly increased her schedule in recent months. As she has continued to shoulder more and more responsibility, fans and experts are praising her approach to royal life.

Royal commentator Angela Mollard has stated that the duchess has really come into her own after battling tabloids early in her role as a senior royal that commented on her alleged lack of work ethic.

“I love how Kate took charge on the call, introducing both of them,” Mollard noted about the duchess’ call with the Casterton Primary Academy school during the Royals podcast. “It gave you an insight into what she must be like at home. I think she’s supremely organized, I think she’s the boss in the relationship. She sort of led the conversation, but in a nice way. She’s the boss in that mother of three children who does 50 million things a day.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton are rethinking some of the royal family’s policies

Following Megxit, and the Cambridges repairing their reportedly fractured relationship with the Sussexes, it appears that Prince William is considering some very real changes.

Meghan expressed how challenging it was to adopt the royals “stiff upper lip” policy where they remain emotionless and non-reactive. “What that does internally is probably really damaging,” the Duchess of Sussex reflected in the ITV documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey. “It’s not enough just to survive something, right? That’s not the point of life.”

Now, Prince William is reconsidering the policy himself. According to Radio Times, in BBC’s documentary, Football, Prince William and our Mental Health, Prince William examines a “belief that too rigid an internalization of emotions – so often the way in stiff-upper-lip Britain – is damaging to psychological wellbeing.” He reflects, “We have to start questioning whether it’s relevant in today’s world.”

Kate Middleton just clapped back at rumors she feels ‘exhausted and trapped’

It looks like Prince William wasn’t kidding when he said that the stiff upper lip policy the royal family has clung on to for generations no longer has a place in the 21st century. After all, silence is what ultimately drove Prince Harry and Meghan away.

Recently, rumors circulated that the Duchess of Cambridge was feeling, “furious” and feels “exhausted and trapped”. An alleged source told Tatler, “She feels exhausted and trapped. She’s working as hard as a top CEO, who has to be wheeled out all the time, without the benefits of boundaries and plenty of holidays.”

Now, in a stunning and absolutely rare rebuttal, Kate is clapping back. “This story contains a swathe of inaccuracies and false misrepresentations which were not put to Kensington Palace prior to publication,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.

However, Tatler is holding firm on their report. “Kensington Palace knew we were running the ‘Catherine the Great’ cover months ago and we asked them to work together on it,” a Tatler spokesperson told ITV. “The fact they are denying they ever knew is categorically false.”

Perhaps this truly is a new royal era.
