Kate Middleton Secretly Loves This Popular Reality Competition
The prince revealed that Duchess Kate and her mother are actually big fans of BBC’s hit TV series Strictly Come Dancing. We’re now all over here imagining the Middleton ladies (popcorn in hand and in their pajamas) on the couch on a Saturday night.
Prince William revealed Kate Middleton’s guilty pleasure
Not surprisingly, the Duchess is sucked into a good reality TV show just like the rest of us. Prince William revealed that Duchess Kate would find herself watching episodes of Strictly Come Dancing to see which celebrity will come out on top each week.
The show follows the live contest faced by ballroom dancers and their celebrity counterparts as they compete for the title, much like Dancing with the Stars in the United States.
Strictly Come Dancing is televised each weekend as celebrities partner with professional dancers to compete in ballroom dance numbers. Each couple is scored by a panel of judges. Apparently, the duke and duchess have found themselves spending Saturday and Sunday evenings watching the famous broadcast.
The secret came out while chatting at a charity gala
Prince William rubbed elbows with Shirley Ballas, who is the head judge on this season’s Strictly, and talked with current host, Claudia Winkleman. All three were attendees at the 50th anniversary gala for Centrepoint, an organization that assists young adults combating homelessness.
Ballas reportedly asked the Prince if he ever watched the television show at home, to which Prince William replied: “I have watched the show a couple of times.”
That’s when Prince William added that Duchess Kate, along with her mother, Carole Middleton, were diehard fans.
He said: “Catherine is a huge fan, and my mother-in-law loves it.” He confirmed although the prince did not mention which contestant Duchess Kate was currently rooting for.
Prince William discusses his own TV preferences at a charity gala
We aren’t surprised that Prince William often will tune into the television programs his wife chooses to watch, given that he has proven to be quite the family man. However, it was clear that he has, perhaps, tuned in more than a few times since he was able to crack a few jokes at the expense of the host, Claudia Winkleman.
During his conversation with Winkleman at the Centrepoint Gala, he allegedly wanted to know why the audience doesn’t see Winkleman putting down any moves during the weekly contest.
“Why does Claudia never dance?” he reportedly wanted to know.
“I’m too creaky!” she replied with a smile.
