‘Kate Plus Date’: Kate Gosselin’s Kids Reveal How They Really Feel About Their Mom Dating

Kate Gosselin has had a rough time with love. The 44-year-old reality star first became famous for having sextuplets. The world watched as she and her husband, Jon Gosselin, navigated the world of having eight young children (they also had a set of older twins). But audiences also got to see the unraveling of Jon and Kate Gosselin’s marriage and it was horrific to watch.

Their bitter divorce and custody battle made headlines as the drama raged on for years. Jon Gosselin was linked with a few younger women, which is a major reason they split in the first place—he was rumored to be hooking up with college co-eds while he was still married to Kate.

But now Kate is putting herself out there again and taking a huge gamble on love with a new reality dating show, Kate Plus Date. Here’s what her kids think about it.

Kate Gosselin has been hesitant about dating

It’s not like Kate’s been keeping a low profile since her split from Jon, but so far she hasn’t been in any serious relationships. She claims that’s because she’s been focusing so much on being a good mom for her kids. Also, she was nervous about the idea.

“I was scared to death … The last time I dated, I had a pager … To go through a really painful divorce and have that all unfold led me to just do the safe thing, which was just be me, mainly because I didn’t want my kids to have to go through that again. I have to get it right — the stakes are really high,” Kate explained.

Daughters Mady and Cara are very supportive

It’s hard to believe that Kate Gosselin’s twin daughters are all grown up now—when the show Jon & Kate Plus 8 debuted, they were just little girls. But Cara and Mady are 18 years old and ready to help their mom find love again.

Some kids might be weird about seeing their moms start dating again. But for Mady and Cara, they’re not only happy to support Kate as she tries to find romance—they’re even helping her do it.  “My kids are so supportive,” Kate explained to Extra. “They keep saying, ‘Do something for yourself, you’ve done everything for us.’”

The twins are the best part of the show ‘Kate Plus Date’

Kate’s twin daughters aren’t just happy with their mom dating—they’re even participating in helping her find a new love interest. While the show has been criticized as being a little awkward and embarrassing, the commentary offered by Cara and Mady helps make the whole thing a lot more bearable.

The show has the possibility of getting cheesy really quickly—after all, it’s just another dating show. But with the twins’ sarcasm and quick wit, the whole thing is exceedingly watchable. And people are.

We are wishing the best for Kate and her twins as they all embark on this love journey together!
