Kathie Lee Gifford is Back on ‘Today!’ Find Out What She Revealed to Hoda and Jenna

Kathie Lee Gifford, former co-host of Today with Kathie Lee and Hoda, exited the morning news program in April after 11 years at the news desk with pal Hoda Kotb. The former television personality chose to move on from the show in order to pursue some new professional projects, which included a move to Nashville, Tennessee.

Gifford just paid a visit to Kotb and her replacement Jenna Bush Hager on the Today Show set to share an update since her departure.

Classic Kathie Lee entrance

When Gifford first took on the co-hosting gig on Today, she had intended her stint to be short. “I came for a year. I fell in love with my Egyptian goddess,” she said, speaking of Kotb, “and then I stayed another year because I was starting to fall in love with the people over there. They’re just so amazing.” Despite her evident affection for her colleagues, she knew when it was time to move on. “It’s 11 years later. It’s literally time. I have so many things that I’m working on,” she said of her farewell.

Kicking off her visit to the show with her trademark humor, Today’s fourth hour featured Gifford trying to enter 30 Rock but being stopped by security. When she kept reminding the guard of who she was, he searched her bag and discovered she was bringing in – what else – a bottle of wine.

Her love life

Gifford was married to retired Hall of Fame NFL pro Frank Gifford from 1986 until his passing in 2015. While the former talk show host has shared she’s open to the thought of love again, she does not actively seek potential dates. Yet a report from Entertainment Tonight in early August revealed that Gifford was seen in Franklin, Tennessee dancing and being affectionate with a man later identified as Randall Cronk.

Kotb and Hager asked Gifford about the gentleman spotted with her in the pics. “I went out on a couple of dates,” Gifford said of the get-together that made headlines. “I went out with friends to a club to hear my favorite band down there, The Smoking Section… so this sweet guy asked me to dance and I said ‘ok,’ then he disappeared into the crowd, and I said ‘ok.'”

A couple of weeks later when going to hear the same band, Gifford ran into her dancing partner. “So we danced again, and then we just went out a couple of times. It was fun.”

The former talk show host commented on returning to the dating world after decades of marriage. “I hadn’t been on a date in 33 years. It’s surreal because the world has changed so much. He was a gentleman so it was fine, it was fun, but then I got so busy and we’re just from different worlds,” she shared.

New home, new projects

Gifford also raved about her new hometown, praising the friendly atmosphere of the South. “There’s a different culture down there. It’s a culture of kindness in Nashville,” she said, according to People. “They are authentically kind. They are joyful, they have so much fun. I wake up and there are church bells ringing all around me. It’s just a different attitude.”

The former Today co-host also revealed that her current projects include songwriting and returning to Israel next February to make more films. Gifford will also appear in the Hallmark film A Godwink Christmas: Meant for Love, which she executive produced. “It took me a while to convince Hallmark that there’s a huge demographic of people out there that don’t want faith taken out of stories,” she said.
