Katie Morton and Chris Bukowski’s Breakup: How ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Cast and Fans Are Reacting
On Dec. 10 of this year, Bukowski and Morton pulled a classic Bachelor Nation break-up move and posted the exact same caption on Instagram. Four months after the televised proposal, fans of the reality dating show had wildly varying reactions to the breakup. The couple’s castmates mostly showered their two recently single friends with love.
After Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton got engaged on the 2019 ‘BIP’ finale episode, the couple ran into issues
33-year-old Bukowski holds the record for most appearances on the most Bachelor franchise (six). But it seems he still hasn’t gotten this love thing figured out (and that’s no shade–do any of us really have it figured out?) Bukowski and Morton’s engagement has seemed rocky since they appeared on the after-show for Bachelor in Paradise.
They were the only engaged couple from the season who were presented separately, instead of together. And the way Morton spoke about the relationship made it sound more like a hostage situation than an engagement. After that episode aired, Morton explained the behind-the-scenes information on Instagram.
“As you’ve seen..It’s been the furthest from easy, from the decision to take the leap onto the beach, navigating what was real and staying true to myself, and my world that spun out afterward, she captioned a photo of the couple’s hands. “BUT I’ve learned, a lot.” The Bachelor in Paradise star asked for her supporters’ trust.
“I know none of you will truly understand why things are the way they are but I ask that you trust me and support me as I navigate this new world,” Morton wrote. “We are finally happy with us.” But over the course of the last several months, Morton and Bukowski hardly ever posted Instagram photos of each other. Still, they claimed all was well in paradise.
Bukowski and Morton break up, explaining why they’re no longer together in identical Instagram posts
Just like Bachelor in Paradise lovebirds-turned-members-of-the-broken-hearts-club Kristian Haggerty and Demi Burnett, Bukowski and Morton posted identical Instagram posts to announce the breakup.
“One of the many lessons this life has taught us is that it’s okay to be stubborn in the pursuit of happiness,” the couple wrote. “To fight for what is real and good, and that often times the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.”
Bukowski and Morton also said they were “thankful” for support from “family, friends and everyone who supported [them] throughout [their] journey.”
“We are grateful for everything that we’ve learned in this chapter, and are hopeful for what is to come in life and in love for both of us,” the couple concluded.
‘Bachelor in Paradise’ cast respond to the split on Instagram
“Love you bud,” Bachelor in Paradise star Blake Horstmann wrote on Bukowski’s post, followed by a heart emoji.
His other fellow Bachelor in Paradise friends Onyeka Ehie, Sydney Lotuaco, Tayshia Adams, Mike Johnson, and Clay Harbor all sent the 33-year-old hearts as well.
Morton’s message also received a lot of love.
“I love you— always rooting for your happiness,” the most recent Bachelorette Hannah Brown commented on Morton’s identical post.
“Eloquently said,” former Bachelorette Becca Kufrin wrote. “I love you, you strong woman. I have the wine and Minno snuggles ready and waiting.”
“Love you guys,” Bachelor in Paradise‘s emotional-breakdown extraordinaire Ashley Iaconetti Haibon also wrote in a comment. Nicole Lopez-Alvar, also a BIP alum, typed out a sad face, followed by “heart u mama.”
Other Bachelor and Bachelorette stars like Mike Johnson, Elyse Dehlbom, Whitney Fransway, Caelynn Miller-Keyes, and Dylan Barbour also shared their support through words and heart emojis.
Fans of Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton share their opinions on Twitter
Not surprisingly, Twitter garnered more of a Wild West of opinions. Some fans were not too kind about Morton and Bukowski’s split.
“Chris and Katie broke up. No one is surprised, but I’m proud of her for realizing she deserves more,” one Twitter user wrote. “WAY MORE,” they continued with hand-clap emojis.
“Thank God!!” another Bachelor fan agreed. “I hope she finds someone as wonderful as she is! She truly deserves happiness!!”
“Seriously, who is shocked by this,” one tweeter commented on Bukowski’s Twitter post. However, some fans seemed genuinely sad that the Bachelor in Paradise couple is calling it quits.
“Heartbroken,” one fan wrote, followed by a crying emoji. “I just saw this relationship as a fit… I wish there was more confidence that it could of work between and within these two!”
“I’m so sad. Loved you together,” another Twitter user wrote.
“At least y’all lasted longer than some of the others,” a Bachelor fan aptly pointed out.
