Keanu Reeves Doesn’t Touch Women in Photos: Fans Have Dubbed Him ‘Respectful King’
Keanu Reeves is winning over fans and it’s not just because of his acting. The internet adores him, something he finds “wacky,” with his fans also dubbing him “Respectful King” for displaying a small polite gesture when he poses with female fans — he never touches them.
Why are fans so smitten with Keanu Reeves?
Maybe it’s his easy-going temperament or the fact that he doesn’t seem like he has an overinflated ego, but fans have been into Keanu Reeves for years.
Reeves has been called the “internet’s boyfriend” because he’s so approachable and everyone wants to date him. During a recent interview with PEOPLE at the premiere of Toy Story 4, he was asked how he felt about that nickname.
He responded, “I’ve been what? That’s, uh, that’s wacky.” He added, “Well, the positivity’s great.”
People are certainly sweet on his low-key charisma, but his thoughts on what happens after we die really made fans swoon. During a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he was asked this deep question and responded: “I know that the ones who love us will miss us.”
He’s been called the ‘Respectful King’
In addition to his fans straight up loving him, it’s been brought to everyone’s attention that Reeves is also super respectful when he poses for photos with fans. At first glance, nothing looks out of the ordinary but people have been pointing out that he never touches women when he takes photos with them, with his hand seen just hovering above their waist or arm — even superstar Dolly Parton!
One Twitter user who posted photos as evidence of Reeves being respectful, noted: “Lol Keanu ain’t taking no chances.”
Others remarked: “He is too good and pure for this world” and “Keanu Reeves doesn’t have to touch you when you take a picture with him because he’s radiating his godlike energy of pure positive vibes.”
Another Twitter user noted: “Fans are calling #KeanuReeves a ‘respectful king’ after noticing he doesn’t touch women in photos (interesting though, that the women are often eager to invade HIS personal space, LOL).”
The fan adoration isn’t lost on him
Reeves, ever humble, enjoys the fan adoration, telling ET at the Toy Story 4 premiere: “It’s been really nice and special for me. Just how well the John Wick film was received and then also recently with Always Be My Maybe and then being connected with CD Projekt Red.”
He continued: “I’ve just had the chance to be working with really cool people and be a part of really cool projects. And so to be here with Toy Story 4 is a lot of fun.”
Reeves added: “It’s nice when it’s nice.”
Reeves joins Toy Story regulars Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear) Joan Cusack (Jessie), Blake Clark (Slinky Dog), Wallace Shawn (Rex), and John Ratzenberger (Hamm), playing Duke Caboom, Canada’s greatest stuntman.
The actor explained how he literally jumped onto a table after learning about his character from Pixar, noting, “I just kind of got inspired. The character’s so full of life. He’s a showman, he’s a daredevil. So when he’s on the bike, I was just — like, he keeps doing poses, you know, and he can’t stop. They put it into the film, so it was nice.
Toy Story 4 lands in theaters on June 20.
