‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ Hasn’t Been the Same Since Kris and Caitlyn’s Divorce

Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner were a staple on the old seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians (KUWTK) that ended halfway through where the show is today.

The show began in 2007. By October 2013, they were officially separated and Kris filed for divorce in September of the next year.

It was another year before Caitlyn Jenner announced her transition and the whole family dynamic changed, including the way fans looked at the first seasons of KUWTK

Jenner was always known as the ‘Momager’

When the show first came out, Caitlyn Jenner was the goofy Dad with a grandpa wardrobe. As more things came to light, especially after Jenner wrote her tell-all book, fans on Reddit looked back to the old episodes and the dynamic between the former couple.

The “Momager” was a title given to Kris Jenner as she managed the ventures of her children, and profited from them. Now she has a fortune in her own right but in the beginning of the show, it was all about the family claim to fame. Fans talk about the sweet looks and how Caitlyn Jenner was the butt of more than a few bad jokes while Kris Jenner became intimately involved in the lives of her children.

Fans aren’t happy with how the show keeps changing

KUWTK started as the journey of a family to fame and fortune. As the kids and parents earned more money, their characters also changed, including Jenner’s.

She used to be on the show talking about her involvement in the business ventures of her children and after her divorce from Caitlyn Jenner, her role on the show became more about her personal life as a single working mother.

The show used to be about the personal lives of the Kardashian/Jenner family and now fans see more of the business side as Jenner and her daughters enjoy success after success.

Jenner’s on-screen role has changed

She went under the knife for a plastic surgery procedure and documented the whole thing on the show. She started dating again and that relationship has been a big part of the show.

The show has become less about her pursuits in business or her day-to-day life and more about her only popping up when the drama includes her in a big way. Fans have noticed and many express sadness over the lost relationship between Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner and the elements it brought to the show.

Since the Momager’s on-screen role has changed, the entire dynamic of the show has changed.

Fans get to know Jenner’s personality better

One interesting side effect of this changing role is that fans get to know more about Kris Jenner’s personality. Jenner went from housewife and mother to strong and independent businesswoman after the divorce and this brought out some less-than-desirable traits as well.

For one, fans found Jenner to be more controlling than ever, especially after the family received executive control over the show.

Jenner’s appearance on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spurred the rumors that she might be leaving the show, along with her diminished appearances in Season 18.

In November 2020, Jenner turns 65 years old and with a 10% commission on all her children’s ventures, she has amassed a fortune that makes her independently wealthy, far beyond most of the women on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

She’s famous in her own right and has her own scandals to compete with the rest of the cast on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Fan theories and rumors have been running wild with what Jenner’s role will be on KUWTK going forward. Anticipation continues into the next season and fans want answers.
