Kelly Clarkson and 4 Other Quarantine Celebrity Breakups
Another one bites the dust.
Kelly Clarkson is the latest celebrity to announce a split. Celebrity divorces are certainly not uncommon but they seem to be happening at a higher rate than usual during the coronavirus. While some celebrity romances have blossomed in quarantine — we’re looking at you, Nina Dobrev and Shaun White — others are finding their relationships pushed to the breaking point.
Hunkering down at home spending lots of quality time together isn’t all baking sourdough bread, watching TV, and growing closer as a couple. For some, it’s magnified pre-existing problems. Keep reading to see who besides Kelly Clarkson has announced a break up in quarantine.
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock
The Grammy Award-winning singer is filing for divorce from Brandom Blackstock, her husband of seven years. Meeting in 2004, the pair started dating in 2012 and married a year later.
They share two kids together and as a family, they’ve been isolating in Montana. The couple thought the change of scenery would help them work out their marital problems but unfortunately for them, it led them their break up.
Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox
In an awkward turn of events, Brian Austin Green confirmed he and wife, Transformers actress Megan Fox, split after photos surfaced of her with musician Machine Gun Kelly.
However, fans are skeptical the break up will last because of their on-again-off-again history. Married for nearly 10 years, Green and Fox share three children together. It seems only time will tell if they decide to stay together.
Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy
Now a successful fashion designer, former Full House star Mary-Kate Olsen filed an emergency divorce petition from husband Olivier Sarkozy in April 2020. After five years of marriage, the split is proving to be messy suggesting it may be a while before their divorce is finalized.
Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich
This one’s not much of a surprise considering the marriage between Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich has been strained for a while. Fans even questioned whether or not a divorce was in the couple’s future as far back as January 2020.
Likely headed for a split long before COVID-19 they decided to quarantine separately; Hough in Los Angeles and Laich in Idaho. Prior to that, they tried making working their issues but ultimately they announced their split in a joint statement.
“We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate,” the pair. “We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place.”
Married for three years, some fans believe the death of their beloved dog led to their divorce.
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler
Laguna Beach alum and star of Very Cavallari, Kristin Cavallari and her husband of seven years, former NFL player Jay Cutler, broke the news to fans they were breaking up via Instagram.
Parents of three, the couple both posted identical statements to their respective Instagram accounts on April 26, 2020. The reason for their split?
“This is just the situation of two people growing apart,” they said in the statement.
Their divorce is already getting messy in the wake of the announcement.
These are just a few of the couples who have called it quits in quarantine. Sadly, there will probably be more celebrity breakups to come.
