Kelly Clarkson Explains Why She Hasn’t Opened up About Her Divorce
Fans were surprised to hear Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock broke up. Some are probably curious to know more about the situation. But The Voice coach talked about possibly opening up about it in the future.
Kelly Clarkson filed for a divorce from Brandon Blackstock
Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband in June. She cited “irreconcilable differences” for the reason for the split.
The couple previously were isolating on their ranch in Montana with their two kids. Clarkson then return to Los Angeles.
“They clashed on so many levels, and being in quarantine together heightened their problems to the point of no return,” a mysterious source told Us Weekly. “So she filed for divorce.”
The mysterious source also addressed fans being so surprised by their breakup. “Everyone thought Kelly and Brandon had the perfect marriage, but they definitely didn’t,” the source said. “Brandon’s very laid-back, whereas Kelly’s pretty high-strung.”
Clarkson has gotten negative comments about her divorce
The talk show host has been keeping busy. She recently filled in as a judge on America’s Got Talent for Simon Cowell.
One fan tweeted, “Now Kelly is taking Simon’s place…no wonder her marriage didn’t work. Surprise she has time for her kids…not the good old country girl we fell in love with…it’s all about Kelly being on tv…and no one else…no tears for her…but for her kids.”
Clarkson responded with, “Wow. Shaming a woman who has a great work ethic, is a great mom, and who steps up and fills in when a friends asks for a favor because that’s actually what ‘good old country girls’ do…. this can’t be who you are deep down. I have more faith in your heart. Aim higher please.”
Obviously, the singer isn’t afraid to stick up for herself. But she doesn’t seem ready to talk about her divorce.
She said she hasn’t talked about her divorce because of their kids
Clarkson has opened up about her family in the past. But she admitted she’s hesitant to talk about her divorce publicly.
“I am a very open person, but I’m not going to be able to be truly open about this in certain aspects because there’s kids involved,” the singer told The Los Angeles Times. “I think that I will navigate a way in which to be open and honest about it eventually, probably via the show, and it’ll probably, I’m assuming, happen organically when someone says something in conversation or something.”
She continued to talk about possibly talking about it in the future. “It definitely wouldn’t be planned,” Clarkson said. “But my children and his older children — there are a lot of little hearts involved in this and while people feel, ‘Oh my gosh, what a loss …’ imagine how it is in the epicenter of the storm. It’s a lot to process and deal with, just as a family. So because it’s not just me, I probably won’t go too deep with it.”
It sounds like Clarkson is protective of her family’s privacy for now. If she does open up about it, she wants it to be natural.
