Kelly Dodd From ‘RHOC’ and Brandi Glanville From ‘RHOBH’ Share Why They Get Into so Much Drama on the Show

Both Kelly Dodd from The Real Housewives of Orange County and Brandi Glanville from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are typically in the middle of the drama … even if they currently aren’t on the show.

This season of RHOC, Dodd is at war with Vicki Gunvalson. Even though the former friends appeared to make up during a previous episode, Dodd made it clear she was no friend of Gunvalson’s. She told Tamra Judge she didn’t want to attend Gunvalson’s birthday party but would be there for her funeral.

When Glanville was on RHOBH, she was often at odds with at least one or more cast members. She ended her run on the show with a fractured friendship with Lisa Vanderpump. Even though she moved on from the show, Vanderpump continued to be a sticking point. This summer she tweeted that Vanderpump tried to “ruin her life.”

Why are Dodd and Glanville always in the middle of the drama?

Both Glanville and Dodd appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and a caller asked why they are both drama targets. An After Show caller asked, “Why do you think they throw you guys under the bus? I mean is it because you guys are so, like awesome and out there?”

Dodd has an answer immediately. “It’s because we give them a reaction,” she says gesturing to Glanville. “That’s exactly why.” At the same time, Glanville agrees about being reactionary too. “We react.”

Although both ladies agree they are reactionary, they also know how to have fun even at their own expense. Before WWHL aired cameras captured Dodd arriving at Glanville’s backstage door to lead a train to the stage. Joining the train that night was Glanville’s close friend and former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City, Kristen Taekman. Dodd was the subject of several rumors this season. Gunvalson told the cast Dodd was part of a “train” with several men, plus hinted that Dodd wasn’t allowed at her daughter’s school.

Don’t they dish it out too?

Host Andy Cohen though wants to point out that Dodd and Glanville aren’t simply targeted on the show either. “But you also instigate a fair amount yourselves,” he points out. “You’re not shrinking violets.”

Dodd laughs but disagrees. “I don’t though!” Cohen clarifies, “You do not?” Dodd doubles down on her assertion. “I do not! I absolutely do not.” Meanwhile, Cohen isn’t buying it. Glanville is heard piping in that she doesn’t instigate the drama either.

“I don’t start the fights,” Dodd says. “They start the rumors, they start all these things with me.” It all goes back then to her being reactionary, to which Cohen can see the point. “I’m reactionary, that’s it,” Dodd says. “But I don’t start rumors. They just take one little thing and they spin it.” Glanville points out, “You love everyone in the beginning.” But both agree they then react to the games and spin on the show.
