But it might surprise you to know how little Dodd is paid for the generous dose of theatrics she provides. According to some accounts, she makes less money for the show than any of her fellow cast members. Is Dodd underpaid, and is she hurting for money?

The Real Housewives franchises appeal definitely comes from the shocking glimpses into the world of wealthy women who seem somewhat disconnected from reality. After all, who would watch people living ordinary lives like most of us? No one needs to see someone go on another run to Target; most of us will probably do that ourselves in the next couple of days.
Dodd is a great example of the kind of wild that makes Real Housewives of Orange County so fascinating. She’s the subject of some pretty shocking rumors, and recently she even hit two cast members on the head when she got upset, sending one of them to the hospital. She criticized one of her fellow cast members so harshly that it even made her the target of a lawsuit.
With all of this high-grade drama, you might think that Dodd would be especially valuable to the producers of Real Housewives of Orange County. But if you’re judging that by her salary, that doesn’t seem to be true.
The lowest-paid cast member on ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’?
After her first year on the show, in 2016, Dodd was asked back to do a second year. According to reports, she was offered $150,000 for that season. While that may not seem like bad pay for just living your life in front of cameras, it’s far less than some of the other Real Housewives get.
Some of the women who have been on the show longer are rumored to be paid as much as four times what Dodd receives. If Tamra Judge really is making $600,000 that isn’t going to make their friendship any warmer.
Kelly Dodd isn’t exactly struggling financially
With a projected net worth of $10 million, Dodd is one of the most wealthy women on the show. It’s a good thing, too, considering her love for all things lavish. Some of that income stems from business deals, like the recent investment that made her part-owner of a beverage company. And before joining Real Housewives of Orange County she was the COO of a cosmetics company.
However, the majority of her money seems to have come from an ability to marry — and divorce — wisely. Dodd was married to Michael Dodd, who was a top executive at the educational tech and entertainment company known as LeapFrog. The company went public in 2002, and Michael Dodd made a tidy sum off the $115 million that was raised.
Michael and Kelly Dodd married got in 2006, and she filed for divorce in 2012. The legal proceedings dragged on so long that the happy couple reunited — only to decide that they wanted to give divorce another try in 2017. Their divorce was final in February of last year, and it’s safe to assume that the bulk of her financial standing is a result of that settlement.
It doesn’t seem like Dodd minds too much that she’s paid less than the other cast members. After all, it’s not like her paycheck is all that’s standing between her and poverty. Besides, given her talent for causing chaos, you could even say that her work oh Real Housewives of Orange County is a labor of love.
