Actress Kelly McCreary, 37, of ABC’s long-running medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, married director Pete Chatmon, 41, both confirmed on Instagram, after announcing their engagement in Jan. 2019. Get the details on their wedding and learn how they met ahead.
How did Kelly McCreary and Pete Chatmon meet?
McCreary, who plays Dr. Maggie Pierce, met Chatmon on the set of Grey’s Anatomy two years ago, according to the Los Angeles Times. McCreary’s character dates Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) on the show but off-screen the actors are co-stars and friends.
In an interview with the publication, McCreary showed off the living room of her 1,400-square-foot apartment she and Chatmon share in Los Angeles. In the couple’s apartment is a special reminder of their first meeting.

A framed picture in a series of others (commonly called a gallery wall) features a framed heart. In the framed heart is the one-liner schedule from the Grey’s Anatomy set the day the couple met. The schedule is featured prominently in the gallery wall surrounded by other meaningful photos to the couple. “It’s really special. This is our first place together, and this was one of the only rooms in the house where we added new things,” McCreary told the L.A. Times.
Chatmon announces he and McCreary’s wedding on Instagram
On Monday, May 6, 2019, Chatmon shared a video on Instagram of himself dancing to Jay-Z along with wedding guests. He captioned the video, “Married, Yo. Shouts To All In Attendance. #muchlove.”

After her husband shared the happy news on Instagram, McCreary shared images on her own Instagram account.
Over the past two days, McCreary posted three pictures from her wedding, giving fans a glimpse inside her nuptials.
First, McCreary posted a picture of her and Chatmon walking down the aisle together following their ceremony, captioning the post, “Married, yo! In our favorite place, surrounded by beloved family and friends, and under the new moon. I am besieged by blessings. I love you, @petechatmon!!”
In another post, McCreary shared an image of her and the groom. McCreary simply said, “Forever ❤️” in the caption.
The third and final picture McCreary posted — but hopefully not the last — showed off the beautiful backdrop for the wedding ceremony, the ocean. The bride stood front and center surrounded by loved ones. “We are family. I got all my sisters with me ❤️,” McCreary captioned the image. This image gave us details about the color scheme because all the women in the photo wore varying shades of pink.

Chatmon is a seasoned director.
