Khloé Kardashian Explains Why the Thought of Saying Goodbye To ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ Gives Her ‘Anxiety’
It’s the end of an era. After 20 seasons and countless spinoff series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians is finally coming to an end after nearly 15 years on-air.
Though pulling the plug on the beloved series was a mutual family decision, Khloé Kardashian has had a hard time coming to terms with this news. Not only is she devastated by the show’s ending, but she recently revealed that the idea of having to say goodbye to the pop culture phenomenon is giving her major “anxiety.” Read on below to find out why.
‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ is ending in 2021
On Sept. 8, Kim Kardashian West shocked us all when she announced some heartbreaking news. In a candid social media post, the KKW Beauty mogul revealed that she and her family had reached a joint decision to end KUWTK.
“It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” she wrote. “After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spinoff shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.
“Without Keeping Up with The Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever,” the mom of four concluded, noting that the final season of KUWTK will air sometime in 2021.
Khloé Kardashian is taking the decision to end ‘KUWTK’ the hardest
After news about their beloved show coming to an end emerged, Kris Jenner revealed how her family was taking this decision while speaking with Ryan Seacrest on his radio show.
Though closing this chapter in their lives was a unanimous family decision, the famed momager admitted that Khloé Kardashian wasn’t handling the news too well.
“We had to tell the crew yesterday, so we were all crying, but I think Khloe is the one who is taking it the hardest and hasn’t stopped crying since we announced,” Jenner said. “She’s been so sweet and emotional about it… It’s been a hard decision, I’m not going to lie, it’s been very emotional.”
Though Koko is bummed out that KUWTK is ending, it turns out that she’s not the only one in her family who’s allegedly taking this decision pretty hard.
According to The Sun, Scott Disick is also upset about the show coming to an end, with sources pointing out that, “The only people who are upset are Khloé and Scott Disick. Khloé’s tried to launch several spinoff shows—but none of them have been as successful as KUWTK. And who knows how Scott will make money now that the show is being canceled—he loves flying in private jets and being treated like an A-list star. I can’t see him flying commercial or paying his own way.”
Kardashian says she’s ‘not good with change’
Though she’s not ready to let go of the show that made her and her family household names, Kardashian still believes that ending KUWTK is the right decision.
While talking with Simon Huck and Melissa Gray Washington during a new episode of their Emergency Contact podcast, the Good American founder revealed that she thinks she and her loved ones are in need of a break and believes that now is the best time to take one.
“It’s sad, but we’ve been doing this for 15 years. We get two weeks off a year. It’s exhausting,” Kardashian said. “We’re all in a different place in our lives and some of us need a nap.”
But despite being on board with the idea of herself and her family taking a much-needed breather, the Revenge Body host admits that the thought of closing this chapter in her life still gives her “anxiety.”
“It’s hard because I’m not good with change, but that doesn’t mean I don’t need a break,” she explained. “I’m also sometimes afraid to take the break. I know it’s good. It hits me in waves — like today, I’ve been nauseous all day and I know I have anxiety.”
Though she feels a little on edge about the future, Kardashian’s best friend, Malika Haqq — who appeared on the podcast with her — is excited for KoKo to start a new chapter in her life and is confident she’ll continue to flourish in her career.
So even though saying goodbye to KUWTK is bittersweet for Kardashian, there’s a possibility that the show coming to an end could be a blessing in disguise.
