Khloé Kardashian Once Made a Special Promise To Lamar Odom, Which the NBA Star Said ‘Meant So Much’ To Him
During their marriage, Khloé Kardashian never shied away from opportunities to show Lamar Odom how much she loved him. From accepting his proposal after just a few short days of dating to getting the NBA player’s initials tattooed on her hand, expressing her love for Odom in intimate ways was nothing new for the reality star.
However, there’s one heartwarming gesture Kardashian did that sticks out the most for Odom — and it’s a special promise she made to him at the beginning of their marriage.
Khloé Kardashian vowed to care for Odom’s kids if anything were to ever happen to him
Loving him through thick and thin wasn’t the only promise Kardashian made to Odom during their whirlwind marriage.
After Odom was found unresponsive in a Nevada brothel in October 2015, an old interview he gave back in 2012 surfaced during which he recalled the special vow Kardashian made to him a few weeks after tying the knot.
“I think two to three weeks [into our relationship], she said, ‘Lamar, you know what? Anything ever happens to you, I got your kids. They’re always going to be all right.’ That meant so much,'” Odom told People. “She’s a serious person and when she’s down for you she’s down for you.”
Though Odom’s addictions to drugs and sex had become an issue in their relationship, Kardashian stood by him through it all, even pulling the plug on their reality show, Khloé & Lamar, to focus on their marriage.
“She’s just thorough. If she has your back she’s going to follow you the whole way through,” the NBA player continued. “There’s not a tough time or any situation that’s going to deter her or turn her off from what you going through. If she has your back and she’s down with you, she’s down with you. I’ve experienced that time after time after time.”
Kardashian has continued to have Odom’s back
Even after Kardashian filed for divorce from Odom in December 2013, she continued to support and care for him through difficult times.
In fact, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was one of the first ones to rush to Odom’s side after he was taken to the hospital following his near-fatal overdose in Las Vegas.
After he was stabilized and put into a coma, Kardashian took the lead on ensuring Odom had the proper care. Not only was she the one making medical decisions to get him back on track, but she would also bring him photos of his mother and grandmother to help jog his memory after he woke up from his coma.
Following his near-death experience, Odom expressed his adoration for Kardashian, sharing how grateful he was for her support during that time.
“It goes to show you what a hell of a woman she is and her family upbringing. It makes me feel great [knowing she was by my bedside], our connection will never go anywhere… we are still friends…I am still deeply in love with my ex wife,” he told CNN in 2019. “But, then again, I have to live in a rational space. If it’s just being her friend, then that’s a blessing in itself. If it goes further, than that, of course that’s the icing on the cake.”
Even after their divorce was finalized in 2016, Kardashian didn’t ease up on her love and support for Odom.
Following the release of his 2019 memoir Darkness To Light, Odom revealed on The Jenny McCarthy Show that the Good American founder had sent him a friendly text about one of the stories in his book.
The following month, Kardashian praised her ex for reaching No. 6 on the New York Times’ bestsellers list, commenting on Instagram, “Look at God!!! Congratulations Lammy! Keep shining.”
So, even though Kardashian and Odom are no longer together, it’s clear they never stopped caring for each other.
