“The entire family is over the moon. Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate,” a source told People.
The couple hired a surrogate because Kardashian has a condition called placenta accreta, which would make another pregnancy life threatening, TMZ reported in June. The reality TV star experienced complications while carrying the couple’s two babies as a result of the condition, in which the placenta grows deeply into the uterus, making it unable to detach after delivery. This could result in hemorrhaging, fever, cramps, and inability to breastfeed.
The couple hired the surrogate for $45,000, reported news outlet TMZ. During her two past pregnancies, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star has provided detailed accounts on her blog about difficulties during both of her labors, and the reality show followed her various surgeries and doctor appointments.
“I think I always knew that surrogacy was an option, but I didn’t think it was that realistic of an option, and now I feel like that’s my reality,” Kardashian said in April.
In other news, the reality TV star, 36, posted a black-and-white photo of herself on Instagram climbing a tree wearing nothing except a pair of combat boots. The picture is a sneak peek of her upcoming appearance in a new book by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus.
