Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: Was Wyoming the Beginning of the End for Their Relationship?

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West are always in the news, making headlines every other day. The power couple is admired by many, and disliked by just as many others.

Whether you like them or not, you can’t deny that Kim is an incredibly successful businesswoman, from the reality television industry to cosmetics and fragrances. She seems unstoppable.

The couple has a long history, and despite recent waves, they seem to always find one another in the end. Some may think Kanye’s obsession with building a home in Wyoming will be the end of the road for Kim, but only time will tell.

Kim and Kanye were friends for many years before tying the knot. They met in 2003, when Kim worked as an assistant to pop star, Brandy. Kanye was instantly smitten with the young Kardashian, though she was married at the time.

In 2008, Kanye produced a very interesting hip-hop puppet show called Alligator Boots, which he specifically requested that Kim be involved in. The director chose another actress, but Kanye wouldn’t back down until he had Kim. The show never made it, but she remembers the experience fondly, tweeting pics from it in 2018 with the caption “awww, these memories.”

According to TMZ, Kanye declared his love for Kim a long time ago in lyrics from the Keri Hilson song “Knock You Down.”

Kim was dating NFL star Reggie Bush at the time, but Kanye insists that he wrote these lyrics for her. “You was always the cheerleader of my dreams / To seem to only date the head of football teams / And I was the class clown that always kept you laughing / We were never meant to be, baby we just happened.”

Kanye always jumped at an opportunity to be involved with Kim professionally. In 2010, he appeared on an episode of Kourtney and Kim Take New York. Again, Kim was involved with another sports star, this time NBA player Kris Humphries. Kanye says he tried to convince Kim not to marry Humphries, but the plan didn’t work out and the couple was married–for all of 72 days.

In 2012, Kim and Humphries split and Kanye took to song lyrics again to show his undying love. “And I’ll admit, I had fell in love with Kim / Around the same time she had fell in love with him / Well that’s cool, baby girl, do ya thang / Lucky I ain’t had Jay drop him from the team.” The song “Cold” referenced the fact that Kanye’s friend, Jay-Z, was part owner of the Nets at the time.

All of Kanye’s hard work paid off in 2012, when the couple was spotted for the first time. After that, Kanye began attending many family events with Kim and by the end of the year, they were expecting their first child together. The pair is now married with four children, and the relationship might be a bit tumultuous, but it’s clear that they are really in love.

Over the past few years, Kim and Kanye’s marriage has been the subject of much scrutiny. Things have taken a rocky turn, with several seemingly random outbursts from Kanye. The rapper has been struggling after recently being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The world watched as Kanye made headlines after being hospitalized in 2016 for a “psychiatric emergency.” He revealed in 2018 that he had been officially diagnosed, and in an interview with radio host, Big Boy, he talked about how he was keeping an open mind and referred to bipolar disorder as a superpower rather than a disability.

Kim has always stood by her husband, even after wild outbursts that always seem to make the news. In 2019, Kim told Vogue that Kanye doesn’t use any medication to stabilize his disorder, and that she supports his decision. “For him, being on medication is not really an option, because it just changes who he is.”

The reality star has been very emotional lately, and upset by the stories she reads in the news. She’s begged the public to be sympathetic to the struggles that they are facing as a family, and to stop blaming her for the things her husband says. She has stated that although she may not always agree with him, she does stand by him and wants to help him in any way she can.

Was Wyoming the last straw?

Last year, Kim and Kanye purchased two ranches in Cody, Wyoming. The rapper frequently visits the ranches–the escape from the intensity of their daily lives seems to calm him.

Recent reports from TMZ say that Kanye has received approval to build a sprawling mansion on the property, a goal he has been working toward for some time. The massive homestead will be about 52,000 square feet, with two garages that are 10,000 square feet a piece.

While Kanye seems like he would enjoy a permanent move there, it might not be in the cards for Kim. She has made it pretty clear that she would be willing to split the time between Wyoming and their current Hidden Hills home, but not ditch California all together.

Reddit users speculate that this latest Wyoming development spells doom for the couple. They’ve noticed that Kanye is incredibly happy in Wyoming and Kim looks like she’d rather be anywhere else in the world.

They also seem to think that being in L.A. is more important to Kim than keeping her family in one piece, stating “Kim is never going to move out of LA & give up fame.” They even referenced an old comment Kanye made about moving, when Kim actually said that would be the last straw.
