Inside Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s Strict Parenting Rules
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are known for pushing the envelope with everything from their lifestyle to their wardrobe choices. This has also extended into their parenting choices. Though the couple now has four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, since six-year-old North was born–Kardashian has been mom-shamed for her daughter’s wardrobe choices.
Though it all seems innocent enough, Kardashian and West have allowed their eldest daughter to wear lipstick, bikinis and slip dresses. However, now that the Jesus Is King rapper is on a spiritual and religious journey, that’s all changed.
On a recent episode of The Real —Kardashian revealed that West’s new path has shifted how he approaches being a father and parenting his children.

From Kardashian’s “toned-down” 2019 Met Gala look to limiting screen time, the West children have stricter rules than you would expect. Kardashian explained,
I obviously want to honor [Kanye] and what he’s feeling. And he’s been going through this life change and it’s mostly about the kids. The kids are getting older. He’s more cautious about what we have in the house. And we got rid of TVs in the kids’ rooms and removed makeup from North’s room.

Though Kardashian allowed her oldest daughter to wear lipstick here and there, all of that has changed. In a September 2019 interview with E!, the Skims founder explained, she “kind of got in trouble” with her husband for allowing North to wear makeup. She revealed,
She loves makeup, but her dad won’t let her wear it…I think he had it, he changed all the rules. I’d let her wear, you know, she has a little red for Christmas, I’d let her wear a red lip, or I’d let her do one pop of something. I’d let her, if she’s wearing a black dress, a black lip. Kylie would give her all of these lip kits, so I kind of got in trouble for that. So, it’s now no more makeup.

During her appearance on The Real, Kardashian revealed that she’s 100% down with her husband’s new rules for their children. But as far as her own image is concerned –she’s a grown woman who can decide for herself. She expressed,
He’s had this epiphany of being…a little bit more strict as a dad and being very forceful on the imagery that’s in the household and what they see. I actually agree with it. But, I’m always going to be me. Just where he has gone in his life and maybe things that he did a year ago, he probably wouldn’t be doing today. And I love that beautiful journey as well and I think that’s a great example for our kids. But, you know, there’s also that fine line of staying firm and doing what you feel comfortable with. And I take a little bit of him and I hear what he’s saying and I totally compromise.
We’re glad to know that Kardashian and West are a united front when it comes to making sure their kids are happy and cared for.
