Kim Kardashian Responds to Criticism She’s Copying Naomi Campbell’s Style
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and Kim Kardashian obviously has nothing but love for Naomi Campbell. If you’re going to steal someone’s style, you might as well go with one of the best sources of inspo. Fans recently called out Kardashian for obviously stealing some of Campbell’s looks and she actually responded to the critics.
Kardashian is well aware she’s copying Campbell
Kardashian certainly didn’t have to respond to the criticism, but she took to Instagram to let fans know exactly what’s up. Notably, she loves Campbell and she wears the heck out of some of the styles the model has worn in the past.
Not that she has to answer to anyone about what she wears, but Kardashian kept it short and sweet while providing pics as proof of her love for the iconic model. She captioned the photos simply: “Naomi Forever [heart, shooting star emojis].”
Plus, she tagged Campbell in the post as well. So, are we all good now?
Her response also shut down rumors of a feud
Rumors have been swirling recently that the Kardashians/Jenners were feuding with Campbell, with Kylie Jenner sporting a similar look as the model recently as well.
Campbell seemed to respond by posting a photo of herself wearing the style first.
It was Kardashian’s fashion choice of a colorful Versace vintage dress that she recently wore to Chance the Rapper’s wedding, however, that really had people wondering if there was a feud brewing. Campbell again seemed to retaliate by posting a photo of herself wearing the dress on a runway in 1996.
Fans also picked apart the similarities, noting that it wasn’t just the same dress, but that Kardashian was also sporting crimped hair pulled back in a ponytail. Her hairstyle drummed up a whole other discussion on cultural appropriation, which Kardashian shut down with a throwback photo of herself with kinky hair, noting: “Me & my papa Arthur Kardashian. My mom would crimp my hair all the time! I still have the same crimper machine and used it just recently.”
Campbell slammed Kardashian in the past
Back in 2014, when Kardashian and Kanye West graced the cover of Vogue, Campbell was asked her thoughts about the couple landing the cover. She wasn’t impressed.
She told Australia’s The Morning Show at the time: “I do not want to comment” as she laughed. When she was asked why she didn’t want to comment, she had a bit of shade to throw in response.
Campbell noted: “Because I’m a fashion model and I’ve been working for 28 years, and when you get a Vogue cover, it’s a build in your career. It’s a stepping-stone to achieve that. And I’m a fashion model, what more can I say?”
One of the talk show hosts asked: “So you think that Kim and Kanye haven’t earned the right to be on the cover of Vogue?”
Campbell responded: “Those are your words. I’m being politically correct. That’s Anna Wintour’s choice to put them on the cover of her magazine, who’s to question it?”
