Kim Kardashian now wants to become a lawyer

Last year I registered with the California State Bar to study law. For the next 4 years, a minimum of 18 hours a week is required, I will take written and multiple choice tests monthly. As my first year is almost coming to an end I am preparing for the baby bar, a mini version of the bar, which is required when studying law this way. I’ve seen some comments from people who are saying it’s my privilege or my money that got me here, but that’s not the case. One person actually said I should “stay in my lane.” I want people to understand that there is nothing that should limit your pursuit of your dreams, and the accomplishment of new goals. You can create your own lanes, just as I am. The state bar doesn’t care who you are. This option is available to anyone who’s state allows it. It’s true I did not finish college. You need 60 college credits (I had 75) to take part in “reading the law”, which is an in office law school being apprenticed by lawyers. For anyone assuming this is the easy way out, it’s not. My weekends are spent away from my kids while I read and study. I work all day, put my kids to bed and spend my nights studying. There are times I feel overwhelmed and when I feel like I can’t do it but I get the pep talks I need from the people around me supporting me. I changed my number last year and disconnected from everyone because I have made this strict commitment to follow a dream of mine – It’s never too late to follow your dreams. I want to thank Van Jones for believing in me and introducing me to Jessica Jackson. Jessica along with Erin Haney have taken on the role of my mentors and I am forever grateful to them both putting in so much time with me, believing in me and supporting me through this journey. This week I have a big torts essay due on negligence. Wish me luck ✨⚖️

Aside from running her huge business empire, Kardashian has also been spending time pursuing a law degree.

She became interested in this field after helping Alice Marie Johnson, a woman who was convicted in 1996 on a nonviolent drug charge. Kardashian later said that she “felt like the system could be so different, and I wanted to fight to fix it.”

As such, Kardashian decided to begin studying to take the bar exam. Although she did not finish college, her state (California) does have a way for people like her to still take the bar without a college degree, which includes becoming an apprentice at a law firm.

Kim Kardashian says that criminal justice work is her true calling

There are many people out there who do not take Kardashian’s law pursuit seriously, but she recently shared that she believes criminal justice work is now her true calling.

“I don’t see how I could just say no to someone that really needs help if I know that I can help them,” she told E! News.

Kardashian also revealed that she does not really have much time for friends who have different priorities these days.

“I love talking about it with everyone around me when there’s a case going on,” Kardashian continued. “I mean, even our group chats about different cases that go on, my conversations are different. I’ve literally had to change my number, and just say, ‘I gotta focus for four years, all my friends, guys I’ll be back in four years. Let me just really focus.’ I found my interests have changed, everything really just shifted, and it’s been a fun journey.”

Kim Kardashian is inspired by her father’s law career

While it might seem to some people like Kardashian’s new interest is quite random, the truth is that she grew up with a lot of exposure to criminal law.

Her late father, Robert Kardashian, was a lawyer and part of the team that defended O.J. Simpson in the 1990s when he was accused of murdering Nicole Brown Simpson.

Kardashian was only a kid at the time, but she was always interested in what her father was doing with OJ Simpson’s case. Now that Kardashian herself is trying to get on the same path as her late father, she shared with E! News that she wishes she could talk to him about it more.

“There are times when I can be frustrated, up studying really late and wonder how he did it,” she said. “Having four kids… [he] must have been going through some of the same things that I have gone through, so it would have been exciting to talk to him about that. I know that he would be so, so proud.”
