Kim Kardashian Reveals This ‘Broke Her Soul’ and ‘Changed’ Her From Head to Toe
Pregnancy is tough for many women. Your body feels like it’s been taken over by an alien, you’re bloated, and it seems as if there’s a bowling ball between your legs. But when you’re in the public eye, and constantly having your photo taken, it’s even worse. Kim Kardashian recently revealed just how much it hurt her self-esteem when the press criticized her pregnant body — and it’s totally relatable.
Kim Kardashian didn’t enjoy pregnancy
During her second pregnancy, Kardashian wrote on her app: “For me, pregnancy is the worst experience of my life! LOL! I don’t enjoy one moment of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it. My mom [Kris Jenner] and Kourtney clearly did! More power to them but I just don’t relate!”
It also really affected her self esteem. For someone who is always in the public eye, it can be tough to be constantly photographed, when you feel your worst. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kardashian said: “[Pregnancy] changed my body, my skin. [I got] photographed from every angle. All you have to do is type in Kim and Shamu. It broke my soul for a while.”
No doubt it has to be hard when you see a photo of yourself, with extra weight, every time you open a magazine. Towards the end of her pregnancy, Kardashian admits that she just gave up on trying to be stylish or look good.
“It’s getting hard,” she said in an interview, during the last two months of her pregnancy with her son, Saint. “A friend of mine emailed me and said, ‘Have you given up?’ and I said, ‘Why, what do you mean?’ and he said, ‘You’re wearing flip flops. I saw a photo of you in flip flops,’ and I said, ‘Yes, I’ve given up at this point.'”
Even though she claimed she’d given up, there are plenty of pictures all over the internet of Kardashian with her baby bump, looking great on the runway, like the 2015 Givenchy Fashion Week show, and the InStyle Awards show.
Kim Kardashian keeps a healthy pregnancy body
When Kardashian was pregnant for the second time, with her son Saint, she gained more than 52 pounds. It really affected her self esteem, and she said she felt like a “f**king whale.” However, she eats really well for an expectant mom. She told ET that her normal breakfast is eggs whites and avocado, and then she’ll have a salad for lunch, and pasta for dinner.
She also really enjoyed getting back into the gym after birth, to whip her body back into shape. Kardashian told ET: “As much as I really hate the whole feeling of being pregnant, I enjoy the challenge of getting my body back after it’s all over. I feel so accomplished when I’m back to where I want to be.”
That’s a sentiment that most people probably can’t relate to, but hey, if it makes her happy, awesome for her! A healthy body is always a good thing.
Kim Kardashian still thinks pregnancy is worth it
Even with all the hardships, and pains of pregnancy, Kardashian says it’s still worth it. “It is all SO worth it when you have your precious baby in the end!” she says. “So for all my complaining, it’s 100 percent worth it and more!!!”
Still, her feelings and insecurities around pregnancy probably contribute to why she chose to go with a surrogate for her third and fourth pregnancy. When you can afford to have someone else go through pregnancy for you, why not?
