Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West Were Rocking The Face Mask Trend Long Before The Age of The Coronavirus
Years before face masks became a common trend across the globe amidst the coronavirus pandemic, The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and the rapper were donning facial covers with their street style back in 2014.
Kardashian West recently had a déjà vu moment
Kardashian and West were setting the face mask trend long before it became popular in countries other than Asia.
In a recent Instagram post, Kardashian West shared a throwback photo of herself and her husband covering their faces with bandanas while walking the streets in Paris.
The photo was taken back in 2014 as the pair made their way to a pre-wedding workout, just a few days before exchanging nuptials in Florence, Italy.
The SKIMS founder captioned the snapshot, “Back to the Future (2014),” seemingly referencing how the photo was a sense of déjà vu — especially since wearing face masks is currently an everyday norm for many people around the world.
After sharing the post, many took to the comments to praise the couple for being “True Visionaries.” Some even believe that the pair were way ahead of the times and seemingly “created COVID couture.”
One fan was also convinced that Kardashian and West predicted the coronavirus pandemic in 2014, which others shockingly agreed with.
Though face masks weren’t a huge trend in the City of Light back then, many locals and visitors were taking extra precautions around that time since the Ebola virus was threatening the country.
Fast forward to today, donning a face mask before going outside has become an everyday custom for many people across the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Kardashian West has urged fans to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously
Just like in 2014, Kardashian West is taking extra precautions to ensure that she remains healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
While she’s been spotted donning face masks out in public, the reality star has continued to heed the CDC’s recommendation of social distancing and staying home.
She’s also used to her platform to “flatten the curve,” urging her millions of social media followers to self-isolate to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
“Please everyone, especially people who are young and healthy, pls take the directive to stay home seriously if you care about the health and safety of your mom, father, grandparents, sisters, brothers, children and community,” Kardashian West wrote in her Instagram Story in March 2020.
She continued, “Unless you are leaving your home to go to work, restock on necessary food and essentials, to see your doctor or to help someone in need such as an elderly neighbor, please do not ignore the severity of the warnings to stay inside to stop the spread of this virus. Also a reminder that this virus does not discriminate against race, age, gender, etc. This applies to us all and we will get through this together. Sending everyone lots of love and keeping everyone in my family’s prayers.”
On top of educating fans on the importance of social distancing, Kardashian West, along with her shapewear company SKIMS, has also pledged to donate $1 million in proceeds to families affected by the coronavirus.
