Though she looked absolutely stunning, Kardashian West was internally suffering as she wore the custom-made, beaded, latex dress.

In order to achieve her ultra cinched waist and get through the night wearing a corset, Kim Kardashian West recently revealed that she had to take corset breathing lessons ahead of the event.

A lot of planning went into her Met Gala look

On May 10, Kim Kardashian West not only revealed that she welcomed her fourth child via surrogate, but she also shared a few details pertaining to her Met Gala look.

The reality star dazzled in her skintight, latex dress during the exclusive event that took place in New York City earlier this week.

Though she looks beautiful, a lot of planning and hard work went into Kim’s custom made gown.

Along with the dress taking eight-months to make, Kardashian West had to take corset lessons in order to breathe properly with her waist cinched.

In a recent Instagram post, Kim Kardashian opened up about taking breathing lessons from acclaimed French couturier Mister Pearl, ahead of the Met Gala.

“Corset breathing lessons from none other than Mr. Pearl. It was worth it all!!!” the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star wrote in her post. “And this was the start of a magical inspiring connection. Stay tuned for more.”

Kim Kardashian West also shared how inspiring it was to work with designer Thierry Mugler to execute such a unique vision.

“The day that I found out the Met Gala theme was ‘camp’, that same day we called @manfredthierrymugler 👑the King of Camp!” she began the post, “We met up in Miami right after the holidays last year and saw the sketches! I learned so much about couture from this genius man, it was beyond couture, it was art! 7 months in the making and fittings in Montreal, Paris, and LA.”

Kim has been open about the entire process

This isn’t the first time Kim Kardashian West has given fans an inside look into all the things that went into her one of a kind gown.

In a behind-the-scenes video published on Vogue‘s YouTube channel, cameras captured the reality star’s process as she prepped for the 2019 Met Gala.

During the video, fans were able to see Kim’s custom fittings, the secret to her ultra-small waist: a custom-made, nude-colored corset, complete with Spanx, and three people helping to strap her into the bodysuit.

Kim Kardashian also revealed that once the dress was on, she wouldn’t be able to sit or use the bathroom.

“Okay, so Anna, if I don’t sit down for dinner, now you know why. I’ll be walking around mingling, talking, but I can hardly sit,” Kardashian West said in the video. “I can only like, half sit.”

The KKW Beauty mogul also shared that she had to ride to the Metropolitan Museum of Art standing.

“So I’ll have to stand as I’m riding in a sprinter van on the way there with, I think, a pole, so I can hold onto the pole,” she said. “Just wish me luck.”
