‘KUWTK’: Kim Kardashian West Reveals She Tested Positive for COVID-19
The episode revealed that Kim Kardashian West contracted the virus while studying for round two of the baby bar exam. But she wasn’t the only victim of the illness in her household.
Kim Kardashian West and her kids tested positive for coronavirus
During the May 27 episode of KUWTK, which was filmed in November 2020, viewers learned that Kardashian West and her two oldest children — North, 7, and Saint, 5 — tested positive for the coronavirus.
According to the SKIMS founder, Saint contracted the virus first and later spread it to her and North.
“So, my little Sainty just tested positive for COVID,” the mother of four informed her doctor over the phone. “He’s doing ok, he doesn’t really have major symptoms, he just had a bit of a fever.”
In a confessional, Kardashian West revealed that Saint caught the virus from someone at school.
“We test our kids once a week because they go to school and so they have to get tested in order to go to this little pod, so someone at school tested positive and my son was around that,” she explained. “So Saint has COVID, and I’m just really worried about him. He’s crying and coughing on me and I’m trying to not freak anyone out but now I have to figure out what we’re going to do, especially with the three other kids.”
Eventually, things went from bad to worse in the West household after North started feeling under the weather.
“North is saying she’s feeling sick and I slept in bed with her last night,” the KKW Beauty mogul told the doctor. “She tested negative, but I’m gonna test her again with me on Saturday.”
Later on, a title card revealed, “Kim and the family tested positive for COVID. Production shut down for 14 days while the family and crew quarantined.”
Kim Kardashian West’s diagnosis comes after Khloé Kardashian contracted the virus
After learning that she has COVID, Kardashian West begins self-shooting the show from home while she and her family quarantine.
Despite the circumstances, the reality star continues to study for her exam while battling the illness. However, the virus didn’t make things easy for Kardashian West, as she admitted to barely getting out of bed to study.
“I’m feeling pretty s*******,” she said in her confessional. “North and I kept feeling really sick, and we took tests right before I went to bed and when I woke up in the morning the tests came back positive. We’re supposed to do 12-hour study sessions every single day leading up until the test, and I’ve just been feeling so sick and so just awful with COVID that I can hardly even get out of bed and study.”
She later told cameras, “I thought that making this decision to stick with law school was going to be hard, and to do this test, but I had no idea that I was going to get COVID. I’m feeling extremely achy, so bad, like, the worst back pain. I’m so tired, I have 104 fever, I don’t know how I’m going to do this.”
Later on in the episode, the SKIMS founder calls Khloé Kardashian to help her decide whether or not to take the test.
“I feel like sh*t,” she told her sister, who contracted the coronavirus in March 2020. “I have body aches like, you don’t even … I mean, you understand.”
The Good American founder then said, “I was going to say, I’ve been there, babe. It sucks and the brain fog, every person that I speak to with COVID has lingering brain fog, you’re literally stupid. Have you decided if you’re going to take the test or not?”
“There is no COVID extension for this, so I’m not going to wait until June to take this again,” Kardashian West explained. “I’m going to at least try. Just say a prayer. Get it over with.”
Kim Kardashian West denies contracting the illness during controversial birthday trip
Though it’s unfortunate that Kardashian West tested positive for the virus right before taking her baby bar exam, some seem to think that she didn’t contract the illness while at home.
After the episode aired, the official Twitter account for Buzzfeed News shared a post suggesting the reality star caught the coronavirus while celebrating her 40th birthday with friends and family on a private island.
“Our reporter @elliewoodward dove into the timeline and worked out that it came soon after Kim’s infamous private island birthday bash,” the tweet read.
Not long after the post was published, Kardashian West took to Twitter to deny Buzzfeed’s claimed and address the timing.
“False. Nobody caught Covid from the trip,” she replied to the outlet. “Saint was the first to have it in our family and he caught it from school from another student who tested positive first. I then developed symptoms and got it a few days after he coughed on me while caring for him.”
As of this writing, the exact date Kardashian West tested positive for the virus is unclear. But one thing’s for sure: she definitely did not contract the coronavirus while celebrating her 40th birthday in paradise.
