King Kong vs. Godzilla: When Does the Next ‘Godzilla’ Movie Come Out?
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is roaring into theaters today. The sequel to 2014’s Godzilla pits the legendary Godzilla against three other monsters — Mothra, Rodan, and the three-headed King Ghidorah — in an epic battle that has the fate of the world hanging in the balance.
The movie, which was directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, and Kyle Chandler, is expected to rule the box office during its opening weekend, with a predicted haul of $60 to $65 million. While the reviews have been lukewarm, moviegoers seem to love it, and it currently has a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
This isn’t the last we’ve seen of Godzilla

The latest Godzilla movie is just the latest installment in what is shaping up to be a major franchise. Godzilla and King Kong are both part of Legendary’s MonsterVerse and the two will meet on screen in an upcoming film.
Godzilla vs. Kong will be the fourth film in the series after Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, and Godzilla: King of the Monsters. While we don’t know much about it so far, fans can expect a major showdown between the beast of Skull Island and the most famous of the kaiju monsters.
Godzilla vs. Kong comes out March 13, 2020
If you loved the latest installment in the MonsterVerse, the good news is that you won’t have to wait long to see the next chapter in the saga. Godzilla vs. Kong is due in theaters on March 13, 2020.
Initially, the epic showdown between Godzilla and Kong was scheduled for release a year from now, but Warner Bros. and Legendary decided to move the movie to earlier in the year. That means fans have less than 10 months to wait to see the film.
What we know about Godzilla vs. Kong so far
As the title suggests, moviegoers can expect to see a big battle between Kong and Godzilla in the upcoming movie. Here’s the synopsis of the film:
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
Alex Wingard, who directed You’re Next and The Guest, is directing, and the script was written by Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean). Several actors from Godzilla: King of the Monsters will return for the sequel, including Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, and Zhang Ziyi. Joining the cast will be Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, and Shun Oguri.
But if you’re hoping to see the return of Charles Dance as eco-terrorist Colonel Alan Jonah, you’re out of luck. He confirmed to Digital Spy that he won’t be in the next film. Nor will O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s character Jackson Barnes return for the sequel.
