Here’s everything you need to know.

If you think Perez looks familiar in The Kissing Booth 2, you might be mistaken. According to Perez’s IMDb profile and Glamour, the actor went to school for musical theater in Chicago and started his career at an early age. He then ventured into TV and film, where he has appeared in single episodes of iCarly, Suburgatory, Scandal, Young & Hungry, and Awkward. He also played Noah Torres in Embeds, a series from Verizon’s Go90 app. But The Kissing Booth 2 is Perez’s first major project.

Now, Kissing Booth fans can find Perez on Instagram under the handle @taylorzakharperez. It appears the actor is active on the social media platform and has been busy promoting the Netflix film in recent posts. Perez even teased fans “may fall in love” with Marco and Chloe, played by DC’s Legend of Tomorrow and The Originals star Maisie Richardson-Sellers

In The Kissing Booth 2, Elle and Noah are in a long-distance relationship. As we know from the first film, Noah went to Harvard for university. Meanwhile, Elle must finish her final year of high school in LA. So when Marco arrives in the sequel, he presents a new challenge for Elle.

“Marco’s the new kid at school who kind of offers different things for [Elle],” Perez explained to The Hollywood Reporter in July 2020. “He’s artistic, he dances, he plays the guitar, he sings. It’s a kind of whole different kind of guy than she’s used to.”

The actor continued, “So when they finally have this little meet-cute and they start this relationship, this friendship, I think she starts questioning herself. Does she love Noah? Does she like Marco? What’s her future going to be?”

Whether Elle ends up with Marco or Noah in The Kissing Booth 2, it’s clear Perez’s character has plenty to offer. In fact, it’s almost intimidating how perfect Marco is on paper — and the actor behind him knows i.

“I was immediately spooked,” Perez told Glamour of the casting process, noting the Netflix film called for “professional singers and dancers.” But, despite some uncertainty about his audition, Perez made it through.

Meanwhile, it seems Perez shares other similarities with Marco in addition to his talent.

“There’s certain Taylor-isms in Marco,” he said. “Like Marco, I’m not afraid to share my feelings with those around me. But I follow through a lot more than he does.”

Perez added, “He’s the kind of guy that tries really hard but doesn’t want to show that he’s trying really hard. Because if he fails, then he doesn’t really fail. If I fail, I’m like, ‘OK, next one, moving on.’ Marco hides behind it.”
