Kourtney Kardashian References Iconic ’80s Movie in Instagram Pic Celebrating Kris Jenner’s Birthday
They’re the girls from Beverly Hills. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters may no longer live in the tony SoCal city (with the exception of Kendall Jenner), but they aren’t forgetting where they came from, as Kim Kardashian West proved with her recent birthday gift to her mom Kris Jenner.
Kim’s touching birthday gift to her mom
To celebrate momager Kris’s 64th birthday, Kim threw a party that brought her family back to a special place — and brought tears to everyone’s eyes. After gathering everyone at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where the guests thought they’d be having a small celebration, the 39-year-old revealed she had something else planned.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star had actually rented out her old childhood home. She even rented her parents’ old cars — complete with Kris’s “2 DIE 4” vanity license plate. At the house, there were table settings made from the same wallpaper print that was on the walls when she was growing up.
“All of our memories live here especially with our dad. It’s where each Kardashian child was born and made us who we are,” she wrote. “We had lunch at the home as if it hadn’t changed and we cried the entire time … This was the most special, nostalgic day of my life and we felt my dad’s presence enjoying this day with us!”
Kourtney and Khloé get nostalgic
The birthday celebration was obviously an emotional experience for all the Kardashian-Jenners. “I can’t stop crying,” Kourtney Kardashian wrote on her little sister’s Instagram. “You are the best daughter EVER,” Khloé commented.
“This was the most magical day I can remember,” Kris wrote.
Kourtney and Khloé also posted about the celebration on their own Instagram accounts, and their captions both referenced an iconic ‘80s movie that the girls probably remember watching in their childhood home.
“Troop Beverly Hills,” Khloé captioned the image of herself, her sisters, and her mom sitting with her mom’s white Mercedes Benz convertible.
“We’re the girls from Beverly Hills, shopping is our greatest skill,” wrote Kourtney when she shared the same photo.
“Oh my God our captions match LOL,” Khloé commented on her sister’s post.
The movie the Kardashians love
Both Kardashians were referring to Troop Beverly Hills, the 1989 comedy starring Shelley Long as Phyllis Nefler, a pampered Beverly Hills housewife who becomes the leader of her daughter’s Wilderness Girls troop.
This isn’t the first time the Kardashians have shared their love for the movie, which also starred Craig T. Nelson and Jenny Lewis. (It was also Tori Spelling’s first movie.) In 2015, Kim had a Troop Beverly Hills-themed baby shower complete with teepees and matching pajamas.
If you want to get nostalgic along with the Kardashians, Troop Beverly Hills is available to rent for $2.99 from Amazon and $3.99 from iTunes.
