Kristen Stewart turned down a cameo in ‘Scream 4’

In 2011, the same year The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, Stewart was offered a cameo in Wes Craven’s Scream 4. The actor recently revealed that the role would have been a reboot of Drew Barrymore’s character from the original film.

“So it’s the Drew character that gets killed in the beginning,” she told Slant Magazine. “They created a whole sequence where a lot of people got killed to emulate the Drew thing. But it was just going to be one person.”

At the time, Stewart recognized how iconic Barrymore’s Scream character was. And she said that it was the reason she ended up turning the role down.

“I was like, ‘I can’t do a Drew. I can’t touch that,'” Stewart recalled. ”Do you know what I mean? But, yeah, so then they ended up doing if I’m remembering correctly, a larger sequence and not just one victim.”

Kristen Stewart says she’s open to joining the ‘Scream 6’ cast

After the success of the 2022 movie, Scream 5, filmmakers began working on a new sequel. In her chat with Slant Magazine, Stewart talked about the Scream movies and her meeting with franchise star Neve Campbell. The actor also said that, given the right script, she’d be open to appearing in Scream 6

“I would read the script,” Stewart suggested. “I love Neve Campbell so much. She was very nice to me, and it was very satisfying that she’s a very nice person.”

“I love that movie,” she added. “I’ve watched it recently, as an adult though. It’s so gnarly. I love the movie because it loves movies. The coolest part of Scream is what it says about film. It’s so self-aware. It folds in on itself like six times.”

Stewart praised late director Wes Craven for his passion for film and how it’s reflected in the Scream movies.”It’s a total film nerd type of movie,” she said. “It’s not just a flasher flick. It’s a beautiful movie.”

But admittedly for Stewart, watching horror movies isn’t as easy as it used to be. “It’s so hard to watch,” she added. “I’m like, ‘I don’t have the stomach for that s— anymore.’ I was like, ‘Oh, man, this is very, very, very intense.'”
