‘KUWTK’: Can a Kardashian-Jenner Sister Refuse to Appear on the Show?
Keeping Up With the Kardashians has been on the air since October 14, 2007. Ever since the beginning, it’s been a sure thing thanks to the gossip that got it started. But what fans couldn’t expect was for the show to keep on going strong for over a decade. They also couldn’t expect it to be the recipient of 11 awards, some of which came in as late as last year.
That proves the show has significant staying power, and even after a decade, people still love keeping up with the Kardashian-Jenner clan.
But, what would happen if one of the infamous Kardashian-Jenner sisters decided to quit? Would they even be able to pull the plug on their own appearances?
Rob Kardashian has already bailed on the show
Rob Kardashian, the sole brother in a family of famous (and hot) sisters used to be on the reality show quite often. According to IMDb, Rob appeared in only 93 episodes between 2007 and 2018. This pales in comparison to his siblings who’ve pull upwards of 224 episodes throughout 12 years.
Things are different for Rob though. He doesn’t have nearly as much star power. So him not appearing on the show most likely didn’t have a considerable impact on ratings. But, what made him leave in the first place?
“I think he is going to be a little bit more in the next season. He has his moods. Sometimes he’s like, ‘Look, I didn’t sign up for this,’ and then sometimes he’s like, ‘I’m cool to do it.'” – Kim Kardashian
Well, Rob dropped of the KUWTK map back in season seven. Before that, he was a pretty significant “character,” now he only makes appearances very very rarely. The reason — to focus on his mental and physical health, evident by his weight loss journey. He also had his daughter, Dream, several years ago and has most definitely been preoccupied with his new family life.
Kylie Jenner opted out during the Jordyn Woods scandal
Earlier this year when the news broke that Tristan Thompson had once again cheated on Khloe Kardashian people were floored. They say you can’t teach an old (cheating) dog new tricks, but that didn’t keep fans or the family from being shocked at his “snack” choice.
Instead of rubbing shoulders with a random, he decided his next meal would be none other than Kylie’s now ex-BFF Jordyn Woods. This isn’t to take the blame off of Woods though. It takes two to tango, and they are both definitely at fault.
During the season finale of KUWTK, the family broached the subject together, but Kylie made it a point not to be a part of filming leading up to that moment. Not too surprising given the fact that she was grieving over the loss of her sister from another mister. While Kylie was behind closed doors taking the time she needed, the rest of the family banded to together to force Woods outside of the tight-knight circle.
“Kylie took a little break from filming Keeping Up With The Kardashians and recently got back into filming and it’s been a struggle and difficult. She was very upset about the situation with Jordyn and also just didn’t want to deal with it and have to address it.” – Unnamed Source
Can a Kardashian-Jenner sister leave ‘KUWTK’?
Thanks to the Jordyn-Tristan cheating scandal, the beauty mogul showed that any of the Kardashian-Jenner sisters could probably take a break if they needed to. While there may have been a bit of resistance on the producer’s end, there is a chance they were also empathetic given the situation.
But, what about leaving the show for good? Tabloids are reporting that while Kris Jenner is pushing for years more (ten more seasons to be exact) of KUWTK, some of the sisters are tired of beating (what should probably be) a dead horse.
“Although several of her daughters, including Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall, have said that they wanted out, Kris knows that they will stay put for the right amount of money.” – Source
It looks like Kris is planning to play puppet master to keep the girls on board for as long as she can. While they certainly have the leeway to quit, mama Jenner isn’t going to let them go that easily.
