‘KUWTK’: Kendall Jenner Explained Why So Many Fans Can’t Handle the Show’s Biggest Change
Keeping Up with the Kardashians has been a mainstay of reality television for the past twelve years, and it isn’t showing any signs of going away anytime soon. Fans love following along with the lives and loves of Kim Kardashian and her large, occasionally raucous family.
Still, there have been rumors over the past few years that one Kardashian, in particular, might be taking a big step back from the family’s reality show. Recently, those rumors were confirmed — and Kendall Jenner sat down with Ellen DeGeneres to discuss the change in the family’s dynamic in greater detail.
Kourtney Kardashian will be stepping back from reality television
Kourtney Kardashian is the eldest sibling in the Kardashian-Jenner clan. By the time the show premiered in 2007, she was already a grown woman and in a relationship with Scott Disick. Kardashian and Disick went on to welcome three children, and ultimately, broke up. Kardashian herself went through a number of significant life changes and recently launched her very own lifestyle website, Poosh.
There have long been rumors that Kourtney Kardashian is unhappy spending so much of her time wrapped up in filming the reality show and that she wants to spend more time with her three young children.
Recently, she revealed that she would be taking a big step back from the show and that in the upcoming season, she wouldn’t be on camera nearly as much. Kardashian clarified that she wasn’t “saying goodbye” but that this move felt like the right one for both her herself and her children.
What did Kendall Jenner reveal about the show’s changes?
Kardashian fans have been worrying that Kourtney Kardashian’s departure will mean a big shift in the show’s dynamic. Still, Kendall Jenner recently made an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show to assuage some of the fears surrounding Kourtney Kardashian’s choice.
The model, who doesn’t appear on Keeping Up with the Kardashians nearly as often as most of her siblings, revealed that Kardashian was “not necessarily” leaving the show, as some fans feared. She stated that her older sister definitely “has boundaries” and wants to put those in place on upcoming seasons.
Still, Jenner understands the fan confusion. She stated: “for Kourtney, she did at one point let her personal life be on the show so now it’s a bit more (of a) shift, I guess, for everyone to understand.”
Jenner also teased the upcoming season by saying that things will get “crazier” on the new season long before they eventually calm down. Exactly how the drama with Kourtney Kardashian shakes down is anyone’s guess, but it seems evident that there will be plenty of fodder for the headlines as well as fan blogs.
Will fans continue to watch ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’?
Although it has been around for years, fans still love the drama on Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Many fans have grown up watching the show and have witnessed members of the family get married, have children, suffer betrayals, and go on extravagant vacations.
Through highs and lows, the Kardashian family has put their problems and personal lives on display — and thousands of fans have embraced them for it.
As for Kourtney Kardashian, specifically, the show will likely not suffer from her reduced role. Her storylines have not been nearly as dramatic as some of her siblings’ over the years, and her life, in general, seems pretty calm.
By contrast, viewers will probably get treated to an extension of the Khloe Kardashian-Tristan Thompson drama and a good deal more about Kim Kardashian’s ongoing crusade to reform criminal justice.
