Kylie Jenner Just Outdid Kim Kardashian In a Major Accomplishment

All siblings experience some kind of sibling rivalry. Even as adults, it’s totally normal for brothers and sisters to compete with one another. The Kardashian-Jenner sisters are no exception to the rule.

Fans have watched Kim Kardashian and her sisters — Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner — subtly compete with each other for years thanks to their show, Keeping Up with the KardashiansAs with all sibling rivalries, sometimes one sister comes out on top.

Last week, Kylie Jenner acquired 156 million followers on the popular social media platform, while Kim Kardashian had 155 million. Fans were quick to point out that the younger sister was “supreme.”

Some fans thought this was a long time coming. The 22-year-old mogul has a ton of fans, and there are definitely those who prefer her over her 39-year-old sister. Maybe even around 1 million people prefer Kardashian’s little sister. Currently, both sisters have 157 million followers.

Fans took to Instagram’s comment section to celebrate that Jenner had outdone her big sister. There were those who were just plain excited to see Jenner ‘win,’ like the fan who said “I’ve been awaiting this moment for years.”

Of course, there were those who criticized Kardashian, saying things like “Waiting to see how Kim reinvents herself for the 20th time.” And then there were fans who don’t really seem to be KarJen fans at all. Like one user, who pointed out that Selena Gomez has way more followers than both of them. The Lose You To Love Me singer has 164 million Instagram followers and counting.

Instagram is important to the Kardashian Jenner brand

It might seem like fun and games, but Instagram and social media are very important to all the Kardashian Jenners. Both Kardashian and Jenner are savvy businesswomen, and they use their Instagram accounts to advertise their products.

Kardashian’s company, Skims, makes shapewear and leisure clothing for women. She uses her page to highlight her products. Posts include shots of herself wearing some of the Skims garb, like pajamas.

Jenner is the head of Kylie Cosmetics. Her company recently made headlines when she sold the majority of shares to the beauty conglomerate Coty for $600 million. That leaves Jenner with a stake in Kylie Cosmetics, but the new partnership will give her products more reach.

Instagram is important for advertising for Jenner and Kardashian’s respective businesses, but it’s also a way for them to promote their personal brands. A high follower count means that Instagram posts can be their own income stream. Jenner can make over $1 million per sponsored Instagram post, and more followers mean more money.

This isn’t the first time Kylie Jenner has outdone her sister

Even though Jenner is Kardashian’s younger sister, she’s still had more success than Kardashian at some things. Jenner is the richest of the Kardashian Jenner clan, and she’s made more money from her business ventures than her older sister.

Even though Jenner is a successful model, the bulk of her wealth comes from Kylie Cosmetics. Kardashian was successful in her business ventures, but not as successful as her sister.

Now that Kardashian has Skims, all that could change. The new brand is so popular Kardashian allegedly made millions on the first day. If it’s success continues, Kardashian could catch up to Jenner, at least in terms of net worth.

Instagram followers aren’t everything. Neither is money. Family and friends are more important than those material statistics. As long as Jenner and Kardashian continue to support each other, nothing else really matters. Not even Instagram followers.
