Kylie Jenner Just Deleted This Instagram Post After Fans Attacked Her
The KarJenners are an interesting family. Whether you enjoy Keeping Up with the Kardashians and their various spin-offs and businesses or not, the reality family certainly isn’t without their controversies. From selling weight-loss products, despite their obvious cosmetic surgeries, to their cultural appropriation — stealing the ideas and styles of Black women — including everything from darkening their skin to enhancing their lips, it’s clear that they still don’t get how problematic they can be.
For the most part, Kylie Jenner has focused on her beauty empire, Kylie Beauty and her young daughter, Stormi Webster. In recent years, she’s stayed away from past issues where she’s been accused of stealing designs and imagery. Now the mother of one has gotten caught up in yet another scandal.
The KarJenners have been accused of cultural appropriation in the past
From wearing cornrows to their long colorful nails — Black women are constantly called ghetto and violent for styling themselves in a certain manner. However, when white women like the KarJenners do it — it’s suddenly called fashion.
It’s also extremely hurtful when white publications continue to misname styles and never give any credit to the people who actually originated the styles or fashion. Back in August 2019 — Kendell Jenner was spotted wearing cornrows once again. One Twitter user explained,
I’m EXHAUSTED of white people constantly appropriating black culture and wearing hairstyles that we are always ridiculed/ chastised for having and just doing it because they want to ‘look different’ or ‘stand out.’ We wear these hairstyles to PROTECT our natural hair from damages but they wanna wear it because it looks cool. It shouldn’t be worn by them period.
Kylie Jenner wore twists in a photo
Considering, Jenner’s past where she declared she “invented wigs” and was subsequently was dragged across the internet fo the statement, she’s been pretty careful about what she’s posted and said recently. However, on Jan 3. the KUWTK star posted a photo of herself rocking blonde twists — a style Black women typically wear as a protective style.
The backlash was immediate. “She wants to be a black woman so bad,” one fan wrote on Twitter. Another user expressed “She finna claim this hairstyle like they do everything that’s not theirs.” Finally, one person explained, “My ppl are still losing jobs and viewed as ‘ghetto’ for protective hairstyles, while most white ppl see it as fashion.”
Kylie Jenner immediately removed the post
Unable to deal with the backlash — Jenner deleted the never-before-seen photo from her Instagram and Twitter accounts immediately. However, she has chosen not to respond to her fans’ questions and concerns.
Fashion photographers and brothers Luca and Alessandro Morelli and Jenner’s makeup artist Ariel Tejada –still have the photo available on their IG pages, and they have “credited” their influence to No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani. Tejada wrote, “Omggg #TBT to this never before seen pic of this look @TokyoStylez and I did on The King @KylieJenner 😍Our reference was Gwen Stefani 🤍🤍 #makeupbyariel #kyliejenner 📸- @morellibrothers,”
Since Jenner’s big sister Kim Kardashian West was just slammed for darkening her skin to cover 7 Hollywood Magazine, we can see why the entire KarJenner fanbase is exhausted.
