Celebrities tend to get into some controversy over their Instagram photos. All of the followers and attention seems appealing —  until there is a ton of backlash. Some famous names are able to handle it with grace, while others crumble under the pressure.

The Kardashian and Jenner family is definitely used to being in the spotlight. Now that Kylie Jenner has gained a lot of fame on her own, she has gotten into trouble multiple times on social media. Sometimes, it was due to cultural appropriation, and other times, she faced claims of Photoshop and even accusations of copying artwork from other people.

But what are the posts that got her into the most trouble? Here are seven of Jenner’s most controversial posts on Instagram.

1. Her ‘blackface’ photo

The reality star did a photo shoot where her skin is essentially black, and she has blue eyes. It started getting backlash and some people accused her of using blackface. The 17-year-old then posted a close-up picture from the photo shoot on Instagram with the caption, “Making MAGiC w/ KYLiZZLE. PEEPS BE GETTING TURNT UP ON THIS SKIN SITCH. BLACK LIGHTS & NEON. Does no body know about lighting ? ?”

This didn’t exactly stop the backlash, so others tried to come to her defense, including Zendaya. However, that was later changed when Zendaya heard more of the criticism. The actress tweeted, “At first, I saw more of an avatar look but thank y’all for keepin me on point …we all gotta stay aware of what image we project #lessons.”

Not exactly understanding the backlash, Jenner tried to defend herself again by posting another picture from the photo shoot with the caption, “This is a black light and neon lights people lets all calm down.”

2. The cornrows picture

Jenner’s family has long been problematic when it comes to cultural appropriation. Jenner herself got into hot water when she posted a selfie posing in cornrows with the caption, “I woke up like disss.”

She not only got called out by fans, but other celebrities. Actress Amandla Stenberg commented on the photo, saying, “@novemberskyys when u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdobetter.”

Jenner once again didn’t give a great response. She commented back, “Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do … Go hang w Jaden or something.”

3. The second cornrows picture

The lip kit mogul definitely didn’t take the first round of criticism of cultural appropriation seriously. A year later, she once again posted another picture in cornrows and a nude bathing suit.

There were a lot of comments from fans again pointing out why this is a problem, but this time, she didn’t respond.

4. Kylie Cosmetics is accused of ripping off Vlada Haggerty’s art

Jenner’s personal Instagram hasn’t been the only source of drama on the platform. Her company’s account also got backlash when it released promo photos featuring a woman covering her eyes with gold painted fingers and red lips. It was later revealed that the photo was almost exactly the same as makeup artist Vlada Haggerty’s images.

That wasn’t the only imagery from Kylie Cosmetics that looked eerily similar to Haggerty’s work. Haggerty revealed that on her own Instagram with side-by-side photos (above). Once people took notice, Jenner edited the captions on the photos to read, “inspired by @vladamua.”

Haggerty ended up suing Jenner, but the whole thing ended with Jenner sharing Haggerty’s work on her popular Instagram, according to Harper’s Bazaar.

5. The Photoshop controversy

The reality star is no stranger to posting a selfie. But this one was different after many of her fans noticed her curves didn’t exactly look natural.

The selfie, in which she poses in Puma shorts and a white crop top, led to many calling her out for using Photoshop and saying it didn’t make her a good role model.

6. Her marijuana photo

Once again Jenner’s responsibility as a role model to young people was called into question when a picture of her seemingly passing a joint surfaced on sister Kendall Jenner’s Instagram.

There was a lot of outrage over it, but she didn’t seem to address the controversy and the photo is still up.

7. Her possibly Photoshopped jeans photo

The young star posted a picture of her wearing Fashion Nova jeans on her Instagram. But many people thought something looked odd about her behind in the promotional post.

Many called her out for possibly Photoshopping it. But again, she neither confirmed or denied it.
