“Born This Way” is a historic song for Lady Gaga, known as an empowering song for the LGBTQ community. The songwriting process came easily for this artist, who confirmed she wrote this hit in about 10 minutes.

Lady Gaga is a chart-topping and award-winning songwriter

She’s the star of House of Gucci and one of the Academy Award-winning songwriters for A Star Is Born. Since bursting onto the music scene, Lady Gaga earned 12 Grammy Awards and 29 nominations. 

She’s known for her unique fashion choices and her activism, even being the figurehead of the Born This Way Foundation. The artist also created Haus Laboratories, a vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics brand.

Some know the songwriter for hits like “Born This Way” and “Poker Face,” which were confirmed by Lady Gaga to be written in 10 minutes.

Lady Gaga wrote several chart-topping hits in record time 

Music and lyrics come naturally to Lady Gaga, who sometimes creates songs in less than 15 minutes. While on the Carpool Karaoke segment with James Corden, the host asked if it was true that she could write a song in about 10 minutes.

“I wrote ‘Just Dance’ in 10 minutes,” Lady Gaga confirmed. “‘Poker Face’ was 10 minutes, ‘Born This Way’ was 10 minutes.”

“Born This Way” specifically became an anthem for the LGBTQ community, with Gaga performing a section of this hit during her Super Bowl halftime show. In 2011, she elaborated on the songwriting process and why this song was so special.

“I wrote [‘Born This Way’] in 10 f*cking minutes,” Lady Gaga said, according to MTV. “And it is a completely magical message song. And after I wrote it, the gates just opened, and the songs kept coming. It was like an immaculate conception.”

Although Lady Gaga describes her Chromatica era as complex, she often shares that she could dance through her pain with these new and original songs, including hits like “911” and “Alice.”

“It’s interesting,” Gaga said of her creative process during an interview with American Songwriter. “Writing music, for me, is never one single process. It’s never one system. But there is a system. It’s just a system that’s ever-changing.”

Most recently, the artist played a role in creating the 2020 release, Chromatica. The album featured artists like BLACKPINK, Ariana Grande, and Elton John, as well as chart-topping songs performed entirely by Lady Gaga. “Rain On Me” even earned the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Lady Gaga was also a member of the Grammy Award-winning songwriting team for A Star Is Born. “Shallow” even earned the actor her first Academy Award. She later went on to appear in the 2021 production House of Gucci, alongside Adam Driver.
