‘Law & Order: SVU’: When Does the Series Return for Season 22?
Fans of Law & Order: SVU have been patiently waiting for the all-new season to get a much-needed premiere date. Expectations are running high, considering the premiere was supposed to feature none other than Christopher Meloni, who will return to play the role of Detective Elliot Stabler in his own spinoff. We now know when to expect season 22 of SVU. Read on to learn when fresh episodes will land on your television.
Christopher Meloni will no longer be in the premiere of season 22 of ‘Law & Order: SVU’
Christopher Meloni played the memorable Elliot Stabler on SVU for over a decade. He’s a major fan favorite, and that’s why the news of his return for the upcoming season was so great for fans. Back in May, the showrunner for the series, Warren Leight, spoke on the SVU podcast called Squadroom. He revealed that Meloni would be in the SVU premiere for season 22, and fans couldn’t have been more thrilled.
“It’s pretty clear that Elliot will be in the SVU season opener,” Leight revealed. “I think that much I know. Whether we get to see his family as well remains to be seen.”
However, Meloni’s own Law & Order spinoff won’t premiere this year as originally thought, and it prompted a fan to recently ask Leight about Meloni’s appearance in season 22 of SVU. Unfortunately, he won’t make his appearance now in the Law & Order world again until the premiere of Law & Order: Organized Crime.
“These days all plans are subject to change,” Leight tweeted. “And then they change again. And again. For now, we won’t reintroduce Stabler until the night of his Organized Crime premiere.”
When will season 22 premiere?
Fans finally have a date to set on their calendars of when season 22 of SVU will return. The official social media channels for the series announced the news to joyous fans only yesterday. SVU will be back on Thursday, November 12, at 9 p.m. E.S.T.
Wolf Entertainment announced the details in a press release, along with updated information in regards to Meloni’s new Law & Order spinoff, called Law & Order: Organized Crime. Although fans were expecting this new show to premiere in October of this year, it’s being pushed to 2021 now for the official release.
