Like Allison Mack, These Celebrities Were Involved in Notorious Sex Cults

There have been multiple cults started throughout the years with the secretive goal to take advantage of people sexually. Often people get roped into these situations by completely being misguided they have to decision to leave or stay.

Almost anyone can fall victim into getting pulled into these cults and that includes famous people. Some celebrities were raised by families who were already in the cults so they had no choice in the matter. Others were pulled in because of their fame and were used for it. Then there are those who allegedly used their fame to harm others. Here are seven stars who were involved in notorious sex cults.

1. Allison Mack is accused of recruiting members for Nxivm and branding members

  • The actress is now fighting a sex trafficking charge.

The Smallville actress was shockingly charged for sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and forced labor conspiracy. She was accused of recruiting female members for the group Nxivm under co-founder Keith Raniere. Some of these members allegedly became a subgroup called “Dominus Obsequious Sororium” and were marked with Raniere and her initials according to People.

The women then were allegedly raped, kept on restrictive diets, and blackmailed. Mack pleaded not guilty to the charge and is reportedly negotiating a plea deal. The cult allegedly worked as a pyramid scheme by appearing as a self-help program and offering an executive coaching workshop.

Mack was granted bail and is under house arrest, according to CNN.

2. R. Kelly has been accused of having a sex cult

  • R. Kelly has been accused of running his own sex cult by multiple young women.

The R&B singer has been at the center of scandal once again due to an anonymous woman filing a complaint with the Dallas Police Department claiming he has his very own sex cult. Attorney Lee Merritt representing the client gave a statement according to The Cut:

Our client was the victim of several forms of criminal misconduct by Kelly, ­including, but not limited to, unlawful restraint, furnishing alcohol and illegal drugs to a minor, and aggravated assault (via the referenced intentional STD infection) … These offenses occurred while our client was being groomed to join Kelly’s sex cult. Kelly gradually introduced the cult to our client over the course of their relationship, culminating with an explanation that she would have to sign a contract and offer collateral information about herself and her family for Kelly’s protection.

BuzzFeed also ran a report that two women claimed they were held at his properties and were controlled down to what they ate. A representative of R. Kelly claimed the performer denies all claims and allegations.

3. Kristin Kreuk was reportedly a member of Nxivm

  • The actress was one of the first celebrities to join Nxivm but left.

The Smallville star reportedly joined Nxivm in 2006, which was considered as a “major breakthrough” for the group according to Vice. She reportedly was brought in by co-star Mark Hildreth while working in Vancouver. Her name along with Allison Mack was reportedly often mentioned by their salespeople to sell courses. Eventually, Kreuk did leave Nxivm.

Later Kreuk released a statement saying “When I was about 23, I took an Executive Success Program/Nxivm ‘intensive,’ what I understood to be a self-help/personal growth course that helped me handle my previous shyness, which is why I continued with the program.” She also claimed, “the accusations that I was in the ‘inner circle’ or recruited women as ‘sex slaves’ are blatantly false.”

4. Rose McGowan was raised in Children of God before leaving

  • The actress’ father decided to leave Children of God for his family’s safety.

The actress was born into a family that was followers of the international cult, Children of God. Some former members claimed the cult’s goal was to have sex with strangers and used the children of followers to lure people in.

Rose McGowan talked about how her family left for her safety. “I did not want to be like those women. There were basically there to serve the men sexually,” she said according to People. Her father left with her and her siblings by moving from Italy to the United States.

5. Grace Park was reportedly a member of Nxivm

The Battlestar Galactica actress was reportedly in Nxivm. But after a story was released about members being stripped naked, blindfolded and branded, she left quietly, according to Vice.

6. Joaquin Phoenix was raised in Children of God before leaving

  • The actor was raised in Children of God before his parents left.

The actor, along with his siblings, including his famous brother, River, was raised by parents who were in Children of God then left. River once opened up about it and said he was a victim of rape at a very young age, but wanted to block it out. According to Details, him speaking about it helped expose the group publicly.

Joaquin Phoenix has talked about his upbringing and defended his parents. “It’s guilt by association,” he said according to ET. “I think it was really innocent on my parents’ part. They really believed, but I don’t think most people see it that way. I’ve always thought that was strange and unfair.”

7. Nicki Clyne was reportedly a member of Nxivm

  • The actress is married to Allison Mack but reportedly for a specific reason.

The Battlestar Galactica actress was also reportedly in Nxivm and was branded with Raniere’s initials. Art Voice reported that Nicki Clyne and Allison Mack got married in hopes to keep Clyne, who is Canadian, in the United States.

Clyne was reportedly pushed to stop acting by cult leader Raniere, and she did so.
