Lilly Singh was born in Ontario in 1988 to Indian parents. In 2010, Singh graduated from college with a degree in psychology. It was the same year that Singh started her YouTube channel, as a way of dealing with depression.

Her channel took off quickly and she eventually started a second one which focused more on her personal life and the process of crafting her videos.

Over just a few years, Singh has risen quickly in the ranks of social media superstars, and a number of high-profile celebrities have taken interest in Singh and what she has to say. A few of the celebrities that she has collaborated with include Priyanka Chopra, Amber Rose, Selena Gomez, and Seth Rogen.

Singh’s career has branched out to include a lot of other projects in addition to her YouTube channel. She has dabbled in music, including lending her talents to several rap songs, she has worked on films such as Ice Age: Collision Course, Thank You, and Bad Moms.

In 2017, she added the title of author to her resume when she released the book, How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life.

Why is Singh’s new show so important?

In early 2019, Lilly Singh’s career reached a high point when the NBC network announced that she would be hosting a brand-new late-night talk show called A Little Late With Lilly Singh.

The show, which is set to debut in mid-September 2019, will be replacing Carson Daly’s show, Last Call with Carson Daly.

Singh’s brand-new show is incredibly important, for several reasons. Firstly, Singh’s show will be the first woman-helmed late-night show in three decades. Joan Rivers was the last woman to be featured on late-night TV back in the 1980s.

Singh is also the first women of Indian descent to host her own late-night show, a landmark that Singh acknowledged on social media when the announcement for the program was first made.

Singh’s statement read, in part, that it was a “dream come true” for an Indian-Canadian woman to score such an opportunity and that she hopes her parents consider the news “as exciting as a grandchild.”

She also gave kudos to the inspirational women who have come before her, blazing a trail in comedy and entertainment.

What do fans think of Singh’s upcoming talk show?

Ever since the announcement, Singh’s legion of fans has gone wild on social media, praising the fearless comedian for her bold new project. Universally, everyone seems excited about the new show.

While Singh herself has admitted in a recent interview with fellow late-night-host Trevor Noah that she doesn’t want to let any of her followers or fans down, she did reveal that she’s incredibly excited to build a writer’s room and to come up “with creative concepts.”

While Singh has not given too many details as to what the show will feature, she did acknowledge that she plans to stay true to herself no matter what happens. “I am never wearing heels on my show,” she declared, admitting that the best version of her is when she’s comfortable and happy.
