Lisa Vanderpump Blindsided by NBCUniversal’s ‘Vanderpump Dogs’ Announcement
Lisa Vanderpump continues to shine bright on television despite leaving The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The reality TV personality recently scored a new spinoff show for NBCUniversal’s new streaming service, Peacock, around her Vanderpump Dogs establishment. News of the new series shocked Bravo fans and even Vanderpump herself.
Lisa Vanderpump kept in the dark
NBCUniversal aired a special reunion episode of 30 Rock that was a commercial for all the new programming coming up on their various networks. One of the shows that flashed through one of the segments was Vanderpump Dogs, starring the former RHOBH star.
Fans were taken aback by the image as the spinoff series had only been a rumor. Vanderpump would seemingly be an executive producer of the reality series just like she is for Vanderpump Rules on Bravo. This new show would be a “Peacock Original” and would live in the new streaming service.
Vanderpump took to Twitter after fans started talking about the new show. What was shocking was that the restauranteur was kept in the dark about the announcement. However, she reminded her followers that she already knew about the show bearing her last name.
“Well good morning… I’ve known about this for months lol…,” Vanderpump tweeted. “[I] thought it was supposed to be secret, but apparently it’s announced!”
In a later tweet, she hinted about what Vanderpump Dogs would be about.
“So many beautiful poignant stories of rescue…,” she wrote.
Fans sound off on ‘Vanderpump Dogs’
The reality TV personality has a strong fan base that follows her every move. News that their idol would be appearing on a new show made them giddy with excitement.
“I’m so happy to hear,” a fan replied. “You and Ken [Todd] are such good people. It’s always great that you shine a light on such important causes and issues. I can’t wait to watch.”
“After the way you were treated on The Real Housewives you deserve every success. Hope the UK gets to watch it,” a follower added.
“Congratulations Lisa,” a Twitter user commented. “Really missed you on this season [of RHOBH], I actually couldn’t watch without the biggest diamond of them all being in it. Not a good storyline between them. Will be watching out for new show here in the UK.”
“You are such an inspiration Lisa,” another fan noted. “Thank you and your family for all that you do. Keep that light shining bright.”
“Congratulations Lisa, I would’ve loved to [have] been a fly on the wall when the ‘ladies’ of RHOBH found out,” another follower mentioned.
Villa Blanca closes
For Vanderpump, news of her spinoff getting confirmed for Peacock was something positive for a change. The entrepreneur recently broke her silence on having to close down Villa Blanca, her first restaurant in Los Angeles.
“Although there have been many untrue articles in the past week or so about the reasons for closing Villa Blanca, we are indeed going to be closing up our doors for good,” she told Daily Mail.
Vanderpump shared that she would’ve liked to stay at her Beverly Hills location, the landlord didn’t want to renegotiate her lease. The pandemic has been hard for business owners and the restaurant has been close since the shutdown. However, the star remains hopeful that she can find a new location in the future.
“While saying goodbye to the location where we have actively served the Beverly Hills community for 12 years and employed hundreds of Angelenos, is a sad time for us, we are excited to perhaps bring Villa Blanca back in the future at a different location – as its staff and customers have always been a family,” she added.
