Literally No One Is Surprised Tana Mongeau Left Jake Paul Forever
Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul are two of the biggest stars on YouTube. As such, when they began a relationship together, their romance was closely followed by their millions of fans online. However, after being together for less than a year, it seems that Mongeau and Paul have decided to part ways.
While some celebrity breakups do shock fans, the recent development in Mongeau and Paul’s relationship was actually not surprising at all to many people.
Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul started dating in mid-2019
Mongeau and Paul began making headlines in April 2019 after Mongeau broke up with her ex-boyfriend, Brad Sousa. Soon afterward, Mongeau and Paul began a relationship together.
Their romance was often publicly documented. The pair posted a lot of photos and videos together. They even sold merchandise of their relationship featuring their couple name, Jana.
They got married in Las Vegas
After just a couple of months of dating, Paul proposed to Mongeau at her 21st birthday party. Then, the couple got married in Las Vegas in July 2019.
Since Mongeau and Paul had a history of turning their relationship into a public affair, their wedding was broadcast live on a website called Halogen. Fans had to pay anywhere from $50 to $75 to watch, and it was reported that over 64,000 people tuned in.
Many fans suspected that Tana Mongeau and Jake Paul’s marriage was fake
Given how quickly the relationship was moving, it was not surprising that a lot of people suspected Mongeau and Paul were putting up a front to get attention. After all, Paul did reveal in 2017 that his relationship with ex-girlfriend Erika Costell was all fake, so this would not be the first time he engaged in a scheme like this.
Even Paul’s brother, Logan, thought that Mongeau and Paul’s marriage was questionable. In an interview with KFC Radio, Logan considered that it could all be a way for the two of them to make money. He said: “I don’t know what’s going on there [with Jake and Tana], man… There’s no exchange [of money] but you can make money together. Like, say you make merch together, you probably split, like, 50/50 split.”
Fans also dug up other things that made Mongeau and Paul’s marriage look extremely bizarre. For example, both of them eventually admitted that they never got a marriage license, which means that their marriage was not legally binding. The couple never went on a honeymoon, and by September 2019, they were also living in separate homes.
Tana Mongeau recently revealed that the relationship was ‘one-sided’
In late December, Mongeau decided to post a long YouTube video explaining what had been going on with her and Paul. Although she never admitted that her relationship was fake, she did share with fans that it was a lot more “one-sided” than they were led to believe.
Mongeau said: “I loved Jake so much, I still do. But I did so much of being the cool girl and not caring because I wanted to do life with this person and I wanted to see them happy and thrive and I wanted to show them that there are people that will accept you for who you are.”
“I think I just put so much of myself into Jake that I lost myself, and that’s not his fault, and I’m not blaming him for that at all,” Mongeau continued. “It’s just the reality.”
However, she did not regret the time that she spent with Paul, noting that she “loved who I was when I was with him.”
Ultimately, Mongeau revealed that things went downhill for them during and after the wedding. She shared that Paul “was so over it” after they got married, but she was still “clinging, trying to make this work.”
On January 2, after five months of marriage, the couple decided to break up.
