‘Little People, Big World’: Did Matt Roloff Just Prove There’s No Feud Between Him and Jacob Roloff?

Fans of Little People, Big World have been watching the Roloff family for years — and since the beginning, family dynamics have certainly changed. We remember when the Roloff kids were merely children living under Matt and Amy Roloff’s roof. But now, they’re all grown up with significant others and homes of their own. Matt and Amy’s lives have changed greatly, too, as the two people who carry the show the most are now divorced and still dealing with the separation years later.

Jacob Roloff has proven to be the rebel of the family, and he was the first Roloff child to announce he would no longer take part in the show. There’s also been talk in the past that he doesn’t get along with his family, especially father Matt Roloff. Is there really a feud between father and son — or could Matt just have squashed the rumors recently with something he said? Here’s what we know.

I get comments on here all the time about how people 'miss me on the show' or telling me I should 'do a few more episodes' with the family; I'm posting this to say that that will never happen. For the sake of 'the episode' and ratings I've seen a lot of STORYLINES drawn up (loosely) about our lives, and when I was standing here, behind the scenes and watching it from an outside perspective I just couldn't stop laughing. Laughing at how hard the producers have to try to get us to follow the talking points, and at how ridiculous the talking points are. . To misquote Chomsky, "the primary objective of any system is to preserve the integrity of that system", meaning, the primary objective I have felt and observed over the years of the 'crew' is to preserve their job and preserve the ratings, which is up to you to be right or wrong. That's not to say they are all soulless corporate shills or something, there are and have been good people involved but that doesn't negate the fact that they do have their own personal agenda. For me, noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn't work well with the health & happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I would not be a part of it as soon as I was able. . All in all I appreciate people wanting me to 'be with the family' for a few more episodes, but the family that is filmed is not my family. They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them, nor do I want to be a character myself. As soon as the cameras drop however, its almost like they never played the part. 20 minutes after this picture was taken we all, plus friends, had a campfire late into the night. So, I am with my family and I love them I'm just here to say you'll never see that from me on TV again. (This picture is from a few months ago)

If there’s any member of the Roloff family who’s unafraid to speak their mind, it’s Jacob. He’s the youngest member of the family and also was the first one to directly speak about why he chose to leave the show — and he got candid on his Instagram about his decision, too. Back in 2016, he wrote, “For me, noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn’t work well with the health & happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I would not be a part of it as soon as I was able.” Jacob also went on to explain that his family members were merely playing “characters” on TV barely representative of who they are in real life.

It seems he may have some resentment toward Amy and Matt for putting him on the show as a child without his consent, too. And Radar Online reports back in 2015, he made accusations that he wasn’t getting the money the show owed him, either, resulting in a few unsavory Twitter comments.

Sources claimed that Jacob blamed Matt for the divorce

Amy and Jacob have seemingly patched up whatever disagreements they may have had in the past — but what about Matt and Jacob? One source told Radar Online that Jacob was most angry with his father for his parents’ divorce. And the source also added that the two “don’t have the best relationship.”

The source mentioned that not only do Jacob and Matt not “really see eye to eye on a lot of things” and thus have a lot of “tension between them,” but Jacob blames Matt for how much Amy was hurting during the separation. “I think when his parents divorced he put a lot of the blame on his dad. His mom was hurting for a long time, and he believes Matt was the sole cause of that — like his dad is the one that blew up the whole family,” the source continued. “Jacob was very angry when his parents were first going through the divorce.”

Matt may have sneakily squashed the rumors of a feud

Matt and Amy separated years ago, and we haven’t seen Jacob on the show in years, either. The source who spoke with Radar Online mentioned that Jacob and Matt were working on their relationship as well — so perhaps with so much time away, they’ve been able to settle their differences and move on.

To squash all rumors of a feud, Matt posted a photo of Zach’s son, Jackson, on Instagram accompanied by a blurb about what he’s been up to — and Jacob was mentioned in the post. “I spent quality time with Jacob and Izzy planning some logistics for their wedding,” Matt wrote (along with a list of other things he’s been up to). Jacob and his fiancee, Isabel Rock, got engaged at the end of 2018, and while we doubt we’ll get video footage of the event, it’s nice to hear that Matt is involved in the wedding planning process.
