When Little People, Big World first began, the storyline centered on the Roloff family and how Matt and Amy Roloff navigated their married life and business with dwarfism. Now, a lot has changed. Matt and Amy divorced years ago, and they’re both in committed relationships that seem to be going extremely well. Even with new love, though, tensions are high, as Matt and Amy decided to both still live on their farm property even after their split.
In Amy’s memoir, A Little Me, she exposed some serious truths about Matt’s relationship with his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler. And after Amy also decided to sell her half of the property to Matt, fans have been hyper-critical of Matt and his relationship. It seems fans are after him once again after he announced he was taking another vacation with Chandler, too.
Amy Roloff made a plan to sell her half of Roloff Farms to Matt
Amy’s in an amazing relationship with boyfriend Chris Marek, but she’s noted on the show that Matt’s relationship with Caryn Chandler still deeply affects her. In her memoir, readers learned even more about her history with Chandler. According to Amy, Matt and his current girlfriend, who was also a manager on Roloff Farms, were exchanging inappropriate messages while they were still married. Needless to say, living on the same property as Matt and Chandler has been very difficult for Amy — and she made it known she was ready for a change.
At the end of the latest season of LPBW, Amy accepted a buyout offer from Matt. And Matt further explained what was going on with the farm property on Instagram. “I have chosen to buy (and Amy has chosen to sell) me only one side of the farm At this time [sic],” he wrote. “She will remain in her house (and on the farm) and 1/2 owner of our original farm until she decides to leave… At that time we will jointly work to sell the side she lives on together [sic].”
Matt has another home with his girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, in Arizona
Matt has discussed the possibility of completely selling Roloff Farms in the past, so we’re happy to see he still owns the property now. Even so, he has more than one home, too. Radar Online notes he and Chandler also have a home in Surprise, Arizona, that they frequently visit.
According to records obtained by Radar, Matt bought the home in May 2017 and the deed was finalized in June. And while LPBW showed Matt and Chandler house hunting for their new digs, it turns out the home they settled on was actually Chandler’s parents’ home that they signed over to Matt. So far, it looks like Matt’s name is the only one on the property, too, despite his relationship with Chandler being ultra close.
He posted his travel plans to Instagram, and fans are getting critical
Matt recently posted a photo of him and Chandler at the airport getting ready to take off to Arizona once again. “Caryn and I are off again to escape some of this July Rain in Portland. Off to see some more sunshine in Surprize AZ [sic],” he noted in the caption.
While the two look quite happy to be jet setting away from the farm, fans had other concerns. “It seems you never wanted to go on vacation when you were a family and the kids were younger, you would never leave the farm..If you did go on vacation, you’d leave early and go home [sic],” one of Matt’s followers noted. Another wrote, “Amy was always by herself with the kids, he never went with them. Now he is up in the moon.”
Matt took some time to address these comments, too. “I’ve traveled with Amy and the entire family all over the world. Several times over. Amy and I (and the family) made so many USA and international trip we filled up our passports. The show (LPBW) is a very very narrow view of our full life [sic].” Despite the critique, we’re sure Matt will continue to take time off for himself and Caryn in the future, too.
