When it comes to an endearing reality TV family we all know and love, the Roloffs from Little People, Big World come to mind. We’ve been watching Matt and Amy Roloff, a little couple living in Oregon, for years — and fans have loved viewing their kids growing up, moving out, and starting their own lives, too. Unfortunately, fans never saw Matt and Amy’s divorce coming — and it’s seemingly been a difficult transition for the family ever since the separation in 2016.
Zach and Jacob Roloff are two favorites from the show, and it seems they also have had their opinions about their parents’ divorce. Here’s what they allegedly think of it all.
Matt and Amy’s divorce was around the same time as Zach’s wedding planning
Divorces are never easy, and it’s even more difficult when the entire ordeal is televised for the world to see. To make matters even more difficult, People reports Zach was trying to plan his wedding to now-wife, Tori, at the same time as his parents’ separation, which certainly made planning the seating chart extra difficult. All in all, though, he seemed hopeful that the event would give everyone the opportunity to celebrate. As Zach told People, “Weddings definitely give opportunities for families to come together. It definitely was a united front. Your worries go away, and it’s all very positive and forward-thinking.”
It seems he wasn’t always so optimistic, however. When Matt began dating his current girlfriend, Caryn Chandler, In Touch Weekly notes Zach mentioned how difficult the adjustment was for him on an episode of LPBW. “Caryn’s part of the Roloff Farm operation. As far as their relationship goes, I don’t have anything to say about it. My parents are divorced, so yeah,” he said.
Zach and Jacob were seemingly both hurt with the news
Not only did Zach not “have anything to say” about his dad dating again, but Matt Roloff also brought Caryn along to Zach and Tori’s gender reveal party, which totally displeased ex-wife Amy. In Touch Weekly notes Amy called the party an “intimate family thing” that Caryn probably should not have attended — and we’re all wondering if Zach agreed. Us Weekly reports Zach also thought there would be a “breaking point” between his parents if either of them started dating again, especially since they still worked on the farm together.
As for Jacob, the most outspoken Roloff child, Radar Online reports he was allegedly blaming Matt for the divorce occurring at all. As an insider told the publication, “I think when his parents divorced he put a lot of the blame on his dad. His mom was hurting for a long time, and he believes Matt was the sole cause of that — like his dad is the one that blew up the whole family.” The insider added that there was also allegedly a lot of tension in Matt and Jacob’s relationship already, as they had a hard time seeing eye-to-eye. And we know Jacob has been unhappy that he grew up on TV, as he’s expressed as much before and has since left the show completely.
Today, all of the Roloffs are moving forward
The divorce happened years ago, so the Roloffs have had a chance to reevaluate their futures and look forward — and it seems like they’re doing better than ever. While Zach may have had some resentment in the beginning of the separation, he’s still a willing participant in the show and is focusing on his wife, Tori, and his son, Jackson, now. As for Jacob, he’s not featured on LPBW, but he’s also preparing to marry the love of his life, Isabel — and his relationship with his parents has also seemingly improved.
Matt and Amy have moved on as well. Matt is still with Caryn and Amy found love with her current boyfriend, Chris Marek. While People reports Amy said she’d never enter a relationship again, we see she proved herself wrong. And while the ex-couple are still working on the farm together, we’re hoping they’ve found some peace.
