The Roloff family has graced our screens for 14 years, and we remember way back when Zach Roloff was just a kid and Matt and Amy Roloff were still married. Now, a lot has changed for the family, as Matt and Amy’s divorce is causing deep rifts and most of their kids have decided to leave the show altogether. Zach and his wife of average height, Tori, remain fan favorites, however, and they seem to stay committed to sharing their lives and their unique love story with the public.
Nowadays, fans really love watching Zach and Tori raise their son, Jackson. But how do the couple really feel about parenting? Here’s what they said.
Zach and Tori Roloff’s son, Jackson, is 2 years old
There are few toddlers as adorable as baby Jackson. Jackson has the same type of dwarfism as Zach, Heavy notes, and while he may look of average height and size as a toddler, his stature will remain short as he ages. With Zach having dwarfism and Tori being of average height, the couple knew there was roughly a 50% of them having a child who had the condition, so they weren’t too shocked to hear the news during Tori’s pregnancy.
The good news for Jackson is that folks with this type of dwarfism, achondroplasia, live totally normal life spans — and Zach and Tori are excited to raise him despite the potential physical limitations he might experience. Tori has admitted that the idea of her child being “different” is a bit scary for her, though. “There are certain things that come along with having an achondroplasia child that would be more difficult than having a child that was average height,” she said on the show. But Zach reminded everyone that “whatever he wants to do, we’re going to find a way to help him do it.”
They gave clues on Little People, Big World that they could be ready for more kids
It’s completely possible that Jackson could have a sibling of average height if Zach and Tori have more kids — and from the sounds of recent episodes, it looks like another pregnancy may be a reality sooner than we thought. Zach and Tori were celebrating their anniversary on Little People, Big World, and the topic of children came up. “I’m starting to get baby fever again,” Tori announced — and Zach seemed ready for that, too.
They also talked about the possibility of family expansion during an interview with Us Weekly as well. “We want a family. I would love, like four or five kids,” Zach told the interviewers. “It’s just on God’s timing and just whenever. We’re ready for it,” Tori added.
Zach recently said in an interview he thinks parenting is their ‘calling’
Not only do Zach and Tori both want a bigger family, but it seems they believe that they’re truly meant to be parents as well. During the interview with Us Weekly, Zach said, “Being parents, we love it. We both work with kids — I coach soccer, Tori was a teacher — and so we’re all about it. I’m all about kids.” Tori then echoed the same sentiment by adding that raising Jackson has been relatively easygoing for her all things considered, which makes the idea of having more children all the more appealing. “He makes parenthood fun and entertaining,” Tori said of her 2-year-old.
Zach also mentioned what kind of dad he is. “We’re pretty intentional parents, too, we’re definitely like … this is our calling, so we’re pretty hands-on,” he told interviewers.
Will we hear any more exciting potential baby news on the show? We’ll have to wait and find out, as the new season of Little People, Big World is just getting started.
