‘Little People, Big World’: Why Won’t Jacob Roloff’s Wedding Be on TV?

We’ve been watching the Roloff family for years thanks to TLC’s program, Little People, Big World. We remember when Matt and Amy Roloff, a married couple who both had dwarfism, showed viewers the ins and outs of their daily lives. From raising their four kids to upholding Roloff Farms, we’ve loved watching the Roloff’s lives unfold over time — though, sadly for fans, this also means a few favorites have since left the show completely.

Jacob Roloff, the youngest of Matt and Amy’s kids, has always been slightly controversial and outspoken regarding how he feels about reality TV. And now that he’s engaged, many are wondering if we’ll see his wedding like we saw his sibling’s weddings. It turns out we won’t — and we think we know why.

Jacob Roloff may not be on Little People, Big World anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s out of the public eye completely. Fans can still keep up with Jacob on social media, as he updates his Instagram account with what he’s up to fairly frequently. And those who follow him know he absolutely adores his lovely fiancée, Isabel Rock. While it’s still largely unknown to fans regarding how they met, it appears they connected through art, as Jacob is a writer and Isabel is a visual artist.

Isabel has grown quite a following of her own, too. And she doesn’t hesitate to share with fans the highs and lows of engagement and her upcoming nuptials. As she mentioned in this Instagram post, “This has been a really challenging season of life for me, and for us, and we have been in ‘transition’ for what feels like an eternity.” She then added, “Planning a wedding, going back to school, finding a place to live that fits us and gives us a sense of community, always fixing our beloved van, while also trying to manage an art business has felt a wee bit overwhelming for me at times.” Fans certainly have her back, though, as they’ve continually shown their support for her and Jacob online.

Isabel just announced they won’t be televising their wedding

Given how difficult planning a wedding can be (and the anxieties about it that Isabel admitted to facing), we shouldn’t be too surprised that she and Jacob decided against having their big day on TV. In Touch Weekly notes one fan asked Isabel on Instagram, “Will your wedding be televised?? I hope so just because I’ve loved watching all those boys and Molly grow up over the years!” Sadly, to that, Isabel commented back, “thanks! Molly’s was not televised and either will ours be! sorry.”

While fans would surely love to see Jacob and Isabel get married this coming September on screen, they’re still showing support for the happy couple’s decision. Another follower on Instagram commented, “Can’t wait to see the pictures. Don’t let people get to you that keep harping about putting it on TV.” And Isabel commented back, “that’s okay! It doesn’t get to me.”

Jacob and Isabel appear to be private people and likely want their wedding to be that way, too

There’s a reason Jacob and Isabel aren’t on Little People, Big World anymore — and that’s because Jacob felt exploited from a very young age by the show. Back in 2016, he even addressed his choice to leave the show on Instagram. He stated that he will never return to LPBW because the story lines created around his family’s lives were inauthentic. “For me, noticing how the agenda of the crew doesn’t work well with the health & happiness of our family is what made me decide quite a while ago that I would not be a part of it as soon as I was able,” he wrote.

Jacob went on to add, “All in all I appreciate people wanting me to ‘be with the family’ for a few more episodes, but the family that is filmed is not my family. They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them, nor do I want to be a character myself.” Since then, he’s stuck to his word, too, as we haven’t seen him as a major player on the show since he first left. And since his wedding is going to be such a special day for him and Isabel, we doubt he’d want that to be exploited, either.
