‘Lizzie McGuire’: The Compelling Reason We Think Ethan Craft Is Definitely Going to Be In the New Season

If you’re not already super excited for the Lizzie McGuire revival series, get ready to have your mind changed. We’re pretty sure that Hilary Duff and co. have just dropped a major hint about another returning character. Read on to learn more.

Clayton Snyder played Ethan Craft in ‘Lizzie McGuire’

Yes, Duff was the star of Lizzie McGuire. But she had a lot of friends and family members who rounded out the cast. In addition to her brother and parents, she had two best friends, Miranda (Lalaine) and Gordo (Adam Lambert), as well as her “nemesis” Kate (Ashlie Brillaut) and her long-time crush, Ethan (Clayton Snyder).

Lizzie McGuire ran for two seasons (though more than three years) on Disney Channel in the early ’00s. There was also a film, The Lizzie McGuire movie, released in 2003, which was meant as a farewell to the character. Ethan, Gordo, Kate, and many others were also there.

The revival was announced at D23

‘Tis the season for reboots, remakes, and revivals. Or, more like the years for them. Disney has been cranking out even more of these than any other company. And so a new Lizzie McGuire seemed like an almost guarantee.

At D23 in Aug. 2019, we finally got the announcement we’d been waiting for. Lizzie McGuire is set to return, with Duff back at the helm. The series will focus on a now-grown-up Lizzie, but with still-13-year-old animated self hanging around.

Here’s who we know will be on ‘Lizzie McGuire’

After the big announcement, the next question on fans’ minds was: “Who else will be rejoining the cast?” Over the last couple of months, Disney has shared bits of information. First, it was revealed that Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas will be reprising their roles as Jo, Sam, and Matt McGuire, respectively.

Of course, Lizzie’s family is important. But the people we were most excited to see are her friends. Shortly thereafter, Duff revealed that Lamberg would be coming back to play Gordo once again. In fact, we even got a photo of them on set together (see above).

Snyder recently made a surprise appearance with Hilary Duff

Aside from Lalaine — about whom there is thus far no word — much of the fan speculation surrounds whether or not Snyder make an appearance as Ethan. But oddly enough, we may have just gotten our biggest clue about this, in a very roundabout way.

Billboard conducted an episode of “Quizzed” in which singer Meghan Trainor answered questions about her favorite flick, The Lizzie McGuire, as asked by Duff. At the very end, Snyder turned up! All three laughed together as Trainor’s inner fangirl was on full display.

What is Snyder up to these days?

Was Snyder’s appearance in the video a hint that he’s been spending time with Duff on set? It’s hard to say right now, but we’re hopeful — after all, this isn’t our first clue that he’s going to be playing Ethan again.

These days, Snyder is still acting, though not in anything you would have seen. His Instagram profile states that he’s also a realtor and chairman of the LA Athletic Club Water Polo teams. Snyder recently got engaged to his long-time girlfriend Allegra Edwards, an actress who has appeared in series such as The Mindy Project and New Girl.
