‘Long Island Medium’: Theresa Caputo Says She’s Still Grieving Over Her Divorce

Theresa Caputo is making a grand premiere on her new season of The Long Island Medium, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. The medium and her big hair have captured the hearts of fans across the nation, but those same fans were worried for Caputo when she announced her divorce from ex-husband Larry.

However, Caputo says she and Larry have a solid, amicable relationship despite their split. That being said, Caputo has admitted that, regardless of how friendly they are, she’s still grieving for the loss of her relationship.

Why the two split up

In winter of 2017 Theresa Caputo and Larry Caputo announced their intention to separate, to the surprise of many Long Island Medium Fans. Fans were surprised, but the couple released a joint statement to People that made it clear they intended to remain on good terms.

“After 28 years of marriage, we have decided to legally separate. We will always love each other and our two wonderful children. We are united in supporting each other and our family. Please respect our privacy during this time,” the Caputos told People.

Larry Caputo had entered a new relationship a few months after their announcement. At the time, he told TMZ, “I have moved on. I’m fortunate enough to say that I have met someone special. But I’ll just leave it for that now.”

According to Theresa Caputo, their busy schedules made it difficult for them to spend quality time together, and they naturally drifted apart over the course of their 30-year marriage. “I’ve changed and he has changed. We’re both not happy, and, you know, it’s hard to try to work through that,” she said on an episode of The Long Island Medium.

“I think a lot of the frustration has to do with we don’t spend the time together anymore and along with that comes the lack of communication. So it’s like losing your best friend,” Larry Caputo said during an episode.

She has a good relationship with her ex-husband

While the two might not be together anymore, Theresa Caputo and Larry Caputo have been working to maintain an amicable relationship, and it seems as if there aren’t any hard feelings.

Theresa Caputo told Access Live that she and Larry are maintaining a good relationship. “It was nice not to just, you know, text him or talk quickly on the phone, [but] to actually see him and get together, so, you know, we’re in a good place. We’re separated, but we’re in a good place,” she said.

She later referred to her relationship with Larry during an interview with Extra. When discussing their current status, she said, “Fantastic. We’re great, we’re planning … our little girl’s getting married.”

Theresa Caputo is still grieving

While Theresa Caputo may be on good terms with her ex-husband, it surely still hurts to say goodbye to a relationship that lasted through so many years.

Caputo told Us Weekly, “I’m grieving right now. I’m grieving my 30, almost 34 years, with Larry.” When asked if she missed being married, Caputo replied, “I do, but I don’t. I miss what once was.”

She went on to say, “This is a grieving process, but things weren’t the same that they were 34 years ago. So, of course, I miss that aspect. But the way that things were at the end, no — I don’t miss that.”

“At the end of the day, that’s what we want out of life, is for us to be happy and to live our best lives. We always have to love, honor and respect ourselves. We’re both doing that and respecting each other in the same token,” continued Caputo.
